No I'm not talking about video game movies, I'm talking about instances of characters playing video games in movies. It can just be a quick shot of a game or someone actually playing it, either way, post times you can remember this happening and try to post only one at a time to give other people a chance. I'll start.

Corey Feldman playing Zaxxon in Friday the 13th Part IV

There is a tribute to Qbert in a newer Simpsons episode. You basically see the game but Qbert replaced by Marge, Lisa and Bart.

I can't help but notice they reference games of the future not requiring hands to play (*cough* Kinect).

I've also noticed that 75% of depictions of people playing video games in movies involve the actor generally flipping out and waving the controller all over the place like it's trying to fly out of their hands, which generally indicates that the actor/actress in question has little to no experience in actually playing games.

I don't remember the T.V. show (or maybe it was a movie?) but I do recall seeing someone spazzing-out with an original Gameboy when there clearly wasn't a cartridge inserted in the back. Laughing

In Airheads, the radio station receptionist is playing a Game Gear. It sounds like G·Loc: Air Battle, earlier in the movie...but the cart doesn't look like it.

I know there's a couple scenes in Shaun of the Dead.

There's the one at the end where Shaun and his zombified friend are playing PS2 in the shed. No idea what game they are playing though because it never shows it. Plus earlier in the movie they are playing some shooting game I don't recognize because I don't play many shooting games these days.

There is a scene in Jurassic Park 2 were two little boys play FF VIII before seeing the T-Rex stomping through the city.

They were playing Timesplitters 2 near the beginning of the film.

Also, Galaga in WarGames.

That explains it, I've never played Timesplitters at all. Also I could have sworn that post was written by Michael Myers a second before. Razz

Yep, it's definitely Timesplitters 2. The great thing about this was that in the sequel, Timesplitters: Future Perfect, Free Radical added a nod of their own; the Clip Clamp model says a familiar phrase when picked in the character select menu.

In 40 Year Old Virgin, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen play either Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance or Mortal Kombat: Deception.

I think there might have been some video games in The Wizard too, but I forget.

There may have something about a bad glove or something. I remember them talking about how powerful it was.

Surf Ninjas during several scenes of the movie of the same name.

Speaking of Jackie Chan, Street Fighter 2 is featured in City Hunter:
