Gradius: The Movie.

Umm, making a movie in space is either

1. Really Expensive
2. Really Cheap looking

Plus, even such trash writing as final fighter has a bit more to bite into movie wise than gradius, which has effectively one character that you never see ever. Watching a spaceship fly through space shooting moai heads for an hour and a half is extremely boring.

It wouldn't be boring. Check this. It's the first episode to the Salamander/LF anime in 1987 from videotape. Warning: It's reallllly long. And the sound is delayed a bit.

If Konami can make it like this, then a Gradius movie can be successful. And even, fuck, there was a Xevious movie.

Also, The Last Starfighter is the shit and I second Syd.

Over on I R Serious:

"Somebody over at Latinoreview.com is sneaky. Only a year and a half ago one of their reviewers “El Mayimbe” got hold of an early draft of the Halo movie script. Now, in true super hero fashion, he’s done it again - this time scoring a copy of the Prince of Persia movie script.

Here are what seem to be the major points of interest from his review:

* The script calls for liberal use of Parkour - the type of exaggerated jumping, running, and gravity-defying physics used in Casino Royale’s opening chase scene.
* The film is being described as a “9th century Indiana Jones” by one producer.
* The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay for Disney - so you can expect it to resemble the look and feel of Pirates of the Caribbean to a large extent.
* The leading roles have still not been cast.
* After reading the review, my interest in this movie has climbed somewhat. The opening chase scene in Casino Royale was one of the coolest action sequences I’ve seen in a long time, so more of the same in Prince of Persia can only be a good thing in my opinion. And who doesn’t love Indiana Jones? I just wonder who will end up being cast as the leading role … hmm … Orlando Bloom? Christian Bale?"

Interesting, but one thing I've learned with Bay is that pre-production lasts until the movie's in theaters.

Probably old news for you guys but here goes:
Quote:
What do you get when you cross Prince of Persia with Jerry Bruckheimer? Lots of things blowing up in glorious slow-motion? The first video game franchise to establish itself in the mainstream consciousness as a non-sucky Hollywood property?

Who knows. We may be finding out the answer as early as June though, if a recent posting over at Collider is to be believed. On the blog, Bruckheimer spares a few moments with an interviewer to discuss the Prince's upcoming big screen debut.

When asked whether the continuing writer's strike might complicate plans for the Prince's latest venture, Jerry replied:

"Well we're not going to film until June so hopefully the writers will come to some kind of consensus with the studios and we can continue."
