Does anyone here rent bad games to laugh at them? (Like how people rent bad movies to make fun of them with friends). Reading Syd's article on the worst SNES games got me curious on how horrible games could be. I was thinking of doing a games from hell for the Wii to see what traits these games possess (or lack).

My cousin and I play bad MAME games from time to time, or insanely difficult ones to laugh at each other's reactions. Definitely some rage-worthy stuff on cabs.

One of my friends owns Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror for the PlayStation 2. The horribad silliness factor is off the hook; I guess the world isn't quite ready for a first person shooter/arcade fighter/dopelicious rap hybrid. Still, it was great for a laugh.

Here is its commerical.

Yes but some games that people think are bad i disagree with.

The best example is E.T. People think it's the worst game of all time.

It's just an extremely boring game, it's nowhere near the worst game of all time. The worst game of all time would be a glitched unplayable mess.

The fact that you can actually play E.T. signifies that it isn't the worst game ever. By no means am i saying it's a good game. Like i said it's boring as fuck to play...people attribute the video game crash to it. It's not the games fault per se but more the fact that it was a marketing/economic failure in that too many carts were produced.

The best example of this is the AVGN and some of his stupid fans... "can't wait till he does E.T. xD". Fucking Cheetahmen is worse than that.

But to answer your question, yes. Just like bad music and film, i play bad video games.

I like watching LPs of bad games, even more than LPs of good games, but going as far as to play them, not really my thing.

Well, I did once buy a Wisdom Tree game and kind of laughed at it a few years ago from a used games shop. It was called "Exodus."

Tonight I've got three people over and we're playing "Back to the Future" for NES. What a shitty-ass repeptive game. It dosen't even play Huey Lewis and the News in the background, instead it plays this terrible song that sounds like nothing from the movie. And I hate those fucking bird/mosquito things that chase after you and kill you right after you get a bowling ball to shoot the sonsabitches.

Check out the promo video, hahahaha. It's like someone took an episode of the Waltons and then inserted some pictures they took of their television set.

I love bad games and bad accessories. I own a few of the Bible games on NES and I actually had a good time with a religious friend who had never heard of them. He got such a kick out of Baby Moses that we beat the whole game.

I don't think most people actually believe that E.T. is the worst game ever made in terms of playability (at least not informed people). I am guessing that most people call it the worst game ever made for the latter reasoning. Obviously, no one game can cause a market crash, but it embodies a lot of the problems that did lead to the crash and it is a title that most people know about due to the fame of the license so it is understandable that it is so often cited as the worst game ever made.

What about misunderstood games? There's a lot of games that people call "bad" because of the difficulty (Milon's Secret Castle) or the license (McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure).

In fact this goes back to what someone just said about AVGN, especially some of the copycat asspie wannabe badasses who think arbitrarily yelling at a game and swearing on Youtube is too cool for school. It's like I can't find decent reviews on Youtube anymore because of these retards. I just want to take them by the scruff of their pimply four-chinned necks and say "I know you think it's totally uncool to like a McDonald's game, but trust me...I've boned better looking chicks than you, make more money than you, and drive a faster car than you and I'm not afraid to say that the McDonald's game is fucking incredible."

Did anyone actually watch the AVGN review of Milon's Secret Castle? The game is damn hard but it's not as bad as he says...if you've actually played the game you'd think this guy was a fuckin' retard. I know it's kind of his thing to flip a shit but just because he's too much of a dumpy idiot to find the level exit dosen't mean it's a bad game. I'm convinced that this guy is banking on the fact that 90% of his fanbase was too young to play these games when new and as a result have NEVER played them.

What the hell were we talking about again? >___>

Oh yeah, bad games. That BTTF game, on the other hand, is an actually bad game. Fuck that piece of shit.

I disagree with your assessment of the AVGN on Milon's Secret Castle. I do agree that the game isn't that bad, and is actually decent if you know what you are doing, but I don't think he is trying to reach kids that have never played the game. I had the game when I was a kid and I still own my original copy, and until I watched that video I had no fucking idea what to do in that game. I might just be an idiot, but none of my siblings knew either. We probably popped it in once a month and never once found how to get beyond those first 4 rooms. I think a lot of the time AVGN does his reviews by exaggerating the way that he felt when he played a game as a kid. Assuming he didn't own the game and just rented it I don't see why he wouldn't be pissed as a kid, because I don't imagine without any assistance most kids would figure out what to do in that game.

Having said that I do agree with you complaining about AVGN ripoffs on youtube. AVGN always leaves me with a nostalgic feeling, like he is paying tribute to the annoying things in some classic games, and I get the sense that even as he complains about them he really holds a fondness for the character that "bad" games add to the history of video games. This can clearly be seen in some of his reviews like the R.O.B. review where he fights to bring back all the "shitty" games, and by the amount of effort he clearly puts in to the production of some of his episodes. Copy Cat reviewers never seem to have any of that going for them. They just seem to go by the title of AVGN and try to replicate that rather than the spirit that he brings to his episodes.

I dunno, I agreed with AVGN on Milon's Secret Castle. I like difficulty in games as much as the next guy, but there comes a point where it just becomes terminally not fun. I honestly don't have the slightest idea how you're supposed to figure out half the locations of all the crap in that game without a walkthrough or strategy guide.

Also, I want a power glove so bad. Sad

One of my older brothers told me Ultraman on SNES was the worst game he's ever played, so I went ahead and bought it for a whopping $2 and...it's not the worst game, but it's pretty awful. A combat system that consists of kicking (I think there was punching? I can't recall) and the characters move as slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow as molasses.

Well Cam if the characters on an Ultraman game were fast and awesome, that would really go against the spirit of the original show. You should just be happy Ultraman didn't shed small rubber flakes whenever he moved :O

I love the Ultraman TV show so of course I bought the game when I saw it at The Exchange. Considering how crappy it was it was weird that they had, like, six copies.

I don't know about BAD games, but I'll pick up mediocre games like Mad Maestro! and Raw Danger! when I see them used.

I like Chuck Rock for the SNES. I know it's considered shitty these days, but I didn't have too many other games at the time.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
