If you were to get a game controller for your pc what do you think is the best quality? I checked out this NES controller replica. What do you guys think?

I use a ps3 pad for fighters. Its USB already so no converter is required. Xbox pad could be good for 3d games like Batman arkham city and the like though. I just hate the xbox dpad.

We have a replica/mod of each controller. PlaystationX is generally the best. Extra buttons can be used for auto A or B if needed.

I have that exact controller you linked to, and I have to say it is pretty shitty. The A and B buttons are not raised high enough (they are too shallow) and the D-pad is not that responsive(and a bit pointy/sharp). If you absolutely must use a classic NES controller, you should either mod one for USB yourself or buy one of those connectors that you plug the NES controller into and converts it to USB.

Otherwise, what Murdar said. You will be able to use the extra buttons to map quick save/load and turbo or frame skip on the ps3/360 controllers.

I use a wired 360 controller for general gaming and use a driver and program to switch up controls (switching analog controls to digital) for programs that don't use analog buttons.

If I need better D-pad control I use a PS2 dual shock connected through a Gamemon Universal USB Converter I got at Wal-Mart ($10 Smile ) The drivers to get it to work in Win7 here. Huge pain in the ass trying to find those. Rolling Eyes

I use either a wired 360 one that came with my system or my PS3 controller. The PS3 one takes some special software+drivers and is a pain in the ass to setup, but I like it better than the 360 controller. The 360 controller is plug and play, so if you don't want to fuck with settings it is the way to go.

If you're not gonna play 3d games don't get a ps3 pad or an xbox pad, just get a ps2 pad with adapter like they said. If you ever wanna be able to comfortably play something like Bastion or Batman on pc, get an xbox pad. if you wanna play roms and 2d games, get a ps2 pad and adapter, or a ps3 pad if you want uncomfortable analogs and a good dpad.

I use one of these. Allows you to connect two Playstation controllers at the same time, no drivers needed, just plug and play, and you can get it for only $4.25 on ebay with free shipping. Best thing you can get if you don't mind using Playstation controllers to play your games.

If you don't own an XBOX and you are on a budget, I suggest the Logitech F310:

It is cheap and works just fine.

I personally use this adapter and a SNES controller. I can play NES games and SNES games with no trouble. I've had no problems using it with Kega and even random PC games like Touhou.

I heard madcatz makes shitty arcade sticks, but I haven't seen anything about the fightpad. I was interested in it for fighters (duh) and i'm curious how you think it compares to other dpads (ps2 / 3 in particular.

Actually, Murdar, the "fighting game community" standard stick is now the Madcatz TE. The SE is a cheaper, different shaped version and had a few troubles at first because it used the sticks and buttons they themselves produced, but even the new SE sticks are good now. However, the TE stick has always used real Sanwa parts, both stick and buttons, Sanwa and Seimitsu being the two big names in arcade parts, Sanwa being the most popular overall. Personally, I bought a SE stick due to liking the smaller size and shape better and then just bought Sanwa parts and switched out the crappy ones. I'm really happy with it, and all the TE sticks I've played on work great too.

As for Fightpads, while I can't say I've used one or even seen one used in person, a few fighting gamers I know have said they've used them before and they felt pretty good, and I know that plenty of fighting gamers online have given it good reviews. But of course, they'll try to tell you if you want to go with a pad, you can't beat "dat godlike Sega Saturn pad."

LOL I don't know why I'm saying this cause no one is probably going to shell out the money for a stick or let alone want to use one, but yeah basically I just wanted to say that...

tl;dr Madcatz new fighting game products are of good quality, but I still wouldn't touch their other stuff.

I've seriously wanted a sega saturn pad for the longest time ever and all I can find are shitty USB recreations. I need that dpad!!!

Also I suck horribly with arcade sticks, which is a total faux pas I know, but still. I'm fucking awful with a stick, I jump on accident all over the place and I can never seem to land combos right. I guess if I practiced I'd get it right but i'm not willing to shell out the cash first.
