You ever play FarCry?
It's sorta the sequel. Made by the same company, and in the same setting. (Tropical island.) Though, the story is completely different and you don't play as Jack Carver.
It takes place in the near future, where a mysterious meterite crashes into a small uncharted tropic island. You are a US special forces agent, and you and your team are sent to investigate. When you get there you find that North Korea has already sent troops to claim the crash for themselves. You also find that the unkown object has made a forcefield around itself. So you fight the North Koreans, until the forcefield drops to reveal what's inside...
