Every once in a while, I'll watch the trailer for The Last Guardian, and my heart would melt and I'd swear I'd get a PS3 just for it when they went down in price. Over the holiday, though, I got to play the train level for Uncharted 2, and found out that the new Sam and Max games were PS3 exclusive (as far as consoles go), so I think I'll pick a PS3 up really soon. I just wanted to know if there were any other exclusives worth checking out, either on PSN or retail (I'll probably get Little Big Planet, and ruin my life with PS Classics at one point).

I have a 360, but a backlog of interesting-looking games on PSN and retail has gotten me interested. Having both of these is kind of making nervous since both consoles pretty much port to each other, but I've had some money to burn lately, and games like Infamous, 3D Dot Heroes, and the Uncharted games have gotten me interested.

They have all the PSX Final Fantasy games at 10 bucks each on PSN. I want them but I am still hesitant to give them any credit card info. Infamous was decent for a game I got for free, wasn't really my style though. Same goes for Dead Nation, it kind of played like a zombie version of Smash TV, kind of cool but not really something I'd have bought on my own. You've also got MGS 4 and the rage inducing Demon's Souls as exclusives and I enjoyed both of those, especially since they were only 30 bucks each.

Arcana Heart 3.
Also, the episodes of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse, which is console-exclusive to the PS3, are also available on Mac/PC. And point and click adventures were meant to be played with a mouse.

That's on 360 as well, though. New version coming in February!
You could also play Battle Fantasia. It's like Guilty Gear, except, adorable:
1. Actual playable character
2. It's nothing like Guilty Gear.
3. Also on Xbox 360.

I have been playing through Uncharted 3 with a group of friends. The movie... er game, is so cinematic, that rotating levels is just as much fun as playing it all. Honestly, when the console sunsets, Sony really should remake those games for other platforms. They would be a huge draw.

Oh, I'm sure they'll do Super HD remakes of them for the PlayStation 4.
As for Steam and whatnot, forget about it. Sony is in the business of making money with Sony Games on Sony Platforms. Unless Sony is forced out of the gaming industry, it'll never happen. Even Microsoft doesn't release its best 360 games on the PC.

One a time, you know who you all are:
-If Palmer and Jameson return to voice Sam and Max, I'll play it on the computer. It only feels right that way. I'm not even that hot on season one and two, but about half of the jokes are good, and I love the C.O.P.S. and the conversations between The Stinkies.
-I forgot that I need to play FF9 one of these days. Good to know it's on the Market.
-I've actually found a way of getting through my cutscene problem with MGS. There's an LPer I watch that can usually put some good/funny commentary that mocks the goofy aspects, while summing up a lot of the plot stuff so it's not as confusing and cutscenes don't feel so painfully long, so MGS4 looks like a buy for me.
-My pseudo-policy on fighting games is that if I close my eyes, and it sounds like a hentai, then no. Battle Fantasia looks pretty cool, though.
-Heavy Rain sounds cool, as I was in love with any part of Indigo Prophecy that wasn't super powers and cults.

I know but it is 30 bucks for a 25 dollar one or something like that. I think though that you can buy the DLC through Gamestop itself and they give you a code for the same 10 bucks that PSN charges. I might do that when I 100% Dark Souls, which might happen this week if I keep at it.

Hahahahahah goddamn that is a great policy.
I think the voice actors for Sam and Max are the ones from the old lucasarts game, but I liked the cartoon voices better. I dunno if those are seperate guys but I think the cartoon voices sound less nasal.

I did like the cartoon voices. The guy who voiced Sam sounded like John Astin.

3D Dot Heroes is a lot of fun, Demons Soul is a very fun pain in the ass.
Other than that there is Gran Turismo, LBP 1 & 2 are pretty solid. What is really stellar is how the PSN is now getting some amazing titles. PC Engine, Neo Geo and now former Japanese exclusive PSOne games, I mostly play those games. Right now I'm knee deep in Neutopia, a fantastic Zelda clone for the PC Engine.

So, I bought it, and put in a few days' worth of games and demos, and if anyone cares, here are my impressions of the system so far:
Pros:
-Love the interface. Smooth, quick, responsive controls with easily-navigable menus. It always pissed me off how much loading goes into anything you do with menus on Xbox (I have an Elite, so I don't know if recent iterations have gotten better).
-Lots of customization and options to tool around with. I keep finding myself at work wondering if I can do something cool with the system, getting at home and discovering that I can.
-Now that I am used to the market, I now prefer it over Xbox Live Marketplace. XLM lately has just devoted itself to pushing just what it got in that particular week with no real thought for distribution down the road. It just feels like Sony didn't half-ass any portion of it when it came to archiving games/demos etc.
-I hate to say it, but graphics and sound. Any games and demos I've played have been beautiful with stable, high framerates and awesome sound.
-I'm sure there are a few others I'm forgetting.
Cons:
-I always forget about how much I hate Playstation controllers. Having to mash pressure-sensitive buttons all the way down just to navigate menus is retarded. The worst part is having my thumbs facing inwards on analog sticks feels goofy, because I have to realize my thumbs are facing horizontally so that if I want to move my character right, then I have to push my left thumb "up" (if that makes sense). I keep launching myself off of ledges in Uncharted because any time I mean to make Nate jump to the right or left, he jumps diagonally. I also have giant mutant ogre hands, so these thin, cheap controllers feel weird and uncomfortable.
-Having to install everything, and product keys. I played through a portion of Sam and Max after having bought it in a pack, then finding out that I had just played the demo. I then had to reload the game, and download the product key, forcing me to replay the section.
-.... uh, the R2/L2's are kind of dumb? I seriously can't think of too many bad things so far. Overall, I'm enjoying the system, and am looking forward to trying out some Blu-Rays, snatching up a few games for it, etc.

I think the Yakuza-games from Sega are pretty good. They look a bit like gta lite, in downtown Tokyo, but they are really jrpgs in an urban setting with a heavy emphasis on story. Check them out!

I wish PlayStation would get rid of the fucking shapes on their buttons. It's not intuitive to me, and even after 10 years of playing PS2, I'm still not used to it. Shapes have no inherent organizational hierarchy the way that numbers or letters do.
