I mean, hell. If you assholes called me out to defend Halo, you'd still think my opinion was bullshit, right? |
It's different in hearing someone's valid reasoning and still diagreeing. It's another thing entirely for someone to say "I hate such-and-such game...because I just do." It makes that person sound retarded.
you made good points about Halo, I disagreed, and it's cool. I'm not going to belabor the point because you brought up intelligent points.
"I hate Zelda because it's just like the others" is not only a complete lie (if he played the actual games he'd see they're nothing alike in any way shape or form other than they're both 3D), but it makes him sound ignorant. Ignorance does not a valid argument make. |
What he said. I wasn't asking opinions, I was asking why people don't like it. And "because it's 3D and 3D Zelda games suck" is not a valid reason, it's an opinion.

I don't hate Zelda or it's 3D counterparts but I did have a gripe with this game. When Nintendo announced a Zelda game coming out I was expecting an older Link with Next Gen Graphics. What I got was cell shaded kiddy-esqu Link. I was highly dissappointed and never really gave it the old "college try" it deserved.
I looked past it because after awhile it grew on me another problem was the length of time sailing around. I remember sometimes not knowing where I was supposed to go waving the wand around like an idiot, wishing the boat would eventually take me where I needed to go.
However that was never the case. When I did get to a dungeon It ALMOST made all that sailing worth it. If anyone has played Suikoden IV sailing is not the transportation of choice. I still rate the game a 7/10, however if they would have added an engine to the boat later in the game and gave Link a Gasoline wand to wave around I would rate it a 10/10.

Part of the problem too is that there were originally supposed to be more dungeons, thus making the sailing slightly less tedious, but they cut out due to time constraints. I'd like to see them release a DX version of Windwaker someday, as it might help people, including me, appreciate it better.

How hard is it to memorize the fucking cyclone song? especially since if you open up your start menu and press r,it's RIGHT THERE.
that will take you essentially to any important place in the map,and from there you can sail to non important places.
sailing is not that difficult if you're not a complete waste case.

fine.
since zelda 64 I found the game to be annoying and clunky. I don't like the idea of running towards the edge of a platform and hoping I'll magically end up on the other side automatically. I find swordfighting to be lame, I think the puzzles are too obvious, I don't like not having full control over the camera in a 3D game, the sound effects and voices annoy the hell out of me, and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head.
wind waker is has all of the above problems, plus the entire game gives me a headache.
so once again, don't insult my intelligence.

I really don't give a flyin' fuck if people say Wind Waker is bad. I enjoyed it and it's all that matters.
People hatin' on this game only proves the [average] American gamer's intolerance to cute.

not quite.
if I'm against a wall, the camera gets stuck on the wall and wont let me see around me, unless I move away from the wall. that's not always easy to do when I'm precariously perched on ledges.
sometimes the camera will jsut refuse to let me maneuver it to a palce where I can see everyhting around me, making running towards the edge of the screen and hoping the auto jump will let me land where I want that much more frustrating.
no rebuttal for the rest of my claims? surely I must be wrong for having an opinion. boy, what an idiot I must be!
and for the record I have played and beaten these games, and the reason I bought a Nintendo 64 was for Zelda to begin with, so I'm not just some "LOL ZELDA SUXZORZ HALO 4 LYFE" guy.

The problem isn't that we're morons who can't memorize or find the cyclone song or that we don't know how to sail (speaking of insulting one's intelligence, Senor Hypocrite) but that if you DO cut out all the sailing, an already short-on-time-and-substance game gets even shorter. You almost HAVE to sail the whole ocean to make the game worth the $50 you spent on it.
What the hell is the point of a "warp song" if I can finish the game in a day that way? The game was poorly planned, and wasn't worth the long amount of time everyone had to wait to play it because supposedly the engineers were trying to make the game better.

I figured "minus 70 points for a dumb answer" was a pretty good start.
furthermore, asking why people don't like a game is the same as asking for their opinions on the game. It's not like there's fact in people's interests.

The Halo 7 thread was a bit much. I don't know what happened to the Halo 6 thread. I bet a spam bot made it so it had to be deleted before the others.

Zelda, eh? I like that Zelda franchise. Although, I'm a huge fan of Ocarina because it was the closest to what I imagined a Zelda game could be. Wind Waker, from what I've played, is fun, but I never became addicted to it. Part of that reason was because I was so impressed by Ocarina that any follow up is going to pale in comparison, like my original problems with Majora's Mask. The gameplay deletions were also just a tad noticeable. And I never finished it, so who cares what I think of Wind Waker? I don't hate it though; I'm more of a "not what I was hoping for" kind of person.

I don't think that's a fair assessment of the forums. It HAS been cleaned up. Less spam, less out and out breaking of forum rules, and there's definitely more discussion about the applicable topic even when it does veer off for a few posts. If the topics posted don't interest you, that's another problem entirely but fortunately it's YOUR problem and not the forum's problems.
Seems that all you've been adding lately to topics is "You're a moron. You're wrong. Stop being a moron." Not helping the problem a hell of a lot, are ya?

All I can think of when I hear "key party" is The Ice Storm. Great, underrated character-driven movie. Kevin Kline and Joan Allen kick ass.
