As it stands, the Ghostbusters III film will be gracing our screens a cool 30 years since the first one. 30 years is a long time, particularly when you're trying to get the original actors back on board. Dan Aykroyd spoke recently about how they hoped to get Bill Murray back into his ghost-busting boilersuit for the big occasion but it's now being reported that Murray was less than overjoyed with the new script.
Murray allegedly took the script, shredded it, and then returned it to one-time partners Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis with the note: 'No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!'
Yowza! Sure Ramis has gained a few pounds, but way to go for the jugular Bill! In any case, Bill is also the most successful of the three by far, Dan Aykroyd is now better known for his interest in UFOs and many of the Ramis results on Google refer to his more rotund figure.
But oh no Mr. Murray, you go ahead and shred these poor men's last shot at the good life. I'm sure they weren't that fussed anyway. Just trying to get the old gang back together again for one last hurrah and you had to go and shit all over it didn't you?
Apparently the movie will still go ahead without him anyway.

I don't understand why Murray wouldn't do it. This is the man who was the lead live actor in Osmosis Jones. He's already proven he'll take any paying gig.

I can't help but think this is a long running joke between the people involved and they have no intention of doing it.

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of watching this without Murry. He was the only funny or interesting person in the first two and the only reason why part two didn't totally suck.

My understanding is that Bill considered Ghostbusters: The Game to be a substitute for a movie, and that he has never had interest in doing another live action sequel. At one point, he had seemed receptive to doing a CGI movie.

I'd really like to see Ellen Page play the main female lead. Her quirky, almost dorky personality her brand of humor would fit exceptionally well. She is also a cutie.
I'd be really hard pressed to say that Charlie Day would be a good candidate but I think that it could possibly work. I guess that consensus is based on the fact that I absolutely love It's Always Sunny, but hey...it could work right?
Also, I think the attitude and approach of Joel David Moore would fit very well too.

I never understand why people hate on Ghostbusters 2...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the film. They are both great and equal in my eyes.
Also i'm pretty sure Bill Murray doesn't like doing sequels or some shit.
I heard that they were doing it with a new crew of ghostbusters anyway so it's questionable whether 1. He is needed 2. If is role is even that big.
He was my favorite character in the series but he also has a point, they are getting old.
