Not sure if there was a thread for this, can't recall or find one.
Anyways, I picked this up this morning and I fucking love it. Nintendo did a great job with this one. Out of all the 3D mario games, this one really feels like it's 2D ancestors which is great and a breath of fresh air.
Yeah, gonna snag Mario Kart first and maybe someone will buy Super Mario 3D Land for me for Christmas.

Well, I am preordering this, and will be getting it soon. Why soon and not now? Because Nintendo Of Australia suck ass when it comes to releasing games here. At least I get a fancy extra for preordering this and Mario Kart 7.
ApparentlY PETA's in an uproar about it because they think it'll encourage the wearing of fur. To the point of creating a parody of SMB 3.
Anyone want to lob some statuary on their offices?

Can't PETA find something else to bitch about? There are plenty of other media that make me want to wear fur more then Super Mario Bros.
Like Skyrim, I'm more likely to hunt down a fox, skin it, tan it and then make a hat out of it. That's more reasonable!

That brings up the topic (at least it did in my mind): What are PETA's thoughts on furries?

WTF? PETA's making a stink out of the tanuki suit? Nobody ever cried foul when SMB3 came out so why are they complaining about it now? That just makes it sound even more rediculous...

Short answer: Their minds (if any) implode at the mere thought of it.
Picked this up on Sunday, I have to gripe a little, the game is way too easy, veteran Mario players will breeze through this. Even the special world levels...

eh, mario has been easy since Super Mario Land. so, that doesnt surprise me. my only concern is whether the game is fun or not.

It's definitely not as hard as the New Super Mario Bros., and don't get me wrong it's a fun game. Part of what makes the game easy is if you lose more than a few lives on a level, an invincible Tanooki suit box appears, which is like a normal Tanooki suit but makes you invincible for the rest of the level. If that's not enough if you loose even more lives a P wing box appears that takes you to the goal automatically.
There where only a couple of levels that I had enough trouble with that the Invincible Tanooki suit appeared, and usually that was because I was committing suicide for missing Star Coins, and I only saw the P wing on the very last level.
I was able to get all of the star coins for the normal levels in less than 5 hours (beat the game), and so far have made it through special world 1 getting all the star coins on these levels without loosing a single life. It's a little too easy I'd say.
Again, it is still a fun game though.

This is disheartening.

I have only played the game here and there and enjoy it a lot.
Isn't insanely hard but I am enjoying myself a lot. I am only to world 6 at this point and am taking my time with it.
And yea, anytime I have died enough to see a the invincible tanooki appear, I just don't pick it up, that solves that issue.
The game looks and sounds great, really like the soundtrack actually (as you would expect).
