You can go ahead and pencil in a death date for Battlestar Galactica. Stars Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff have confirmed that the upcoming season will be the last for the popular Sci-Fi show. The reasoning behind the show coming to an end has to do with a combination of it costing a lot of money to make, and the fact that viewership is miniscule for such a high-budget series.

At least it kicks on a predetermined date, instead of dying unexpectedly like Star Trek.

I think there's hope for it yet. They've announced it's cancelled before the last season has aired. The show has a loyal fanbase, not unlike Star Trek: TOS, and fans of that show were able to extend its television stay by two years through their efforts. If lesser shows like Roswell can be saved by fan efforts, I don't see why BSG can't win AT LEAST one more season.

Man, hope there's a series box set... Cause I'll never catch up on the show any other way.

Sucks nonetheless.

The producers actually posted over at scifi.com a few days ago saying nothing's definite yet. There COULD still be a fifth season.

In any case, I'll love whatever the hell time I have left with the show.

Sad

Though, truth be told, it definitely felt as though they were heading to this point anyway. Even if you disregard the ratings and budget, the storyline was speeding toward... something.

The Battlestar Galactica movie, Razor, premieres on Sci-Fi on November 24th, but fans will be able to see it 12 days early, at least in some specially-selected cities, where they will be able to attend a special screening at a theater. Beginning Friday, fans will be able to go and register at battlestarevent.com to be able to see the movie in the following cities:

Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Chicago.

Also, if you live in one of the aforementioned cities, the admission to the movie is free.
