Yeah, I did forget about the fur armor. For the men, it's basically like a skirt and nothing else, which confused me because I thought it was a greave set or something.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

I know right? That blew me away. I assume its probably just the lower tier but maybe both. We'll see.
Also, how did everyone get smashed by giants? Even if you miss the guy who specifically warns you about them, the giant's body language as you approach clearly says stay away. It reminded me of the CPs from Half Life 2, so I turned around and walked away. |
From a distance, they looked friendly so I left Sneak mode and approached them to try to talk to the majestic giant race. I then realized that gravity was an illusion and decided I no longer wanted to live on the ground

Heh, I had the same thing happen to me too. But now, I get my revenge. I get it it every damn time I see one of those bastards. Did you know that giants are just walking, hostile treasure chests? Half the time I take one down, they have more valuable stuff on them than a dragon.

Currently, I'm a level 25 two sword/sword and magic Breton with dragonbone armor (the smithing skill really is awesome). I'll tell you this much about giants; they may be fast, but their attacks are slow as hell, so stay close so they don't charge you and send you into the stratosphere.

I killed my first giant last night at level 17 dual casting a firebolt spell. Bastard ran up while I was fighting a dragon and actually killed the dragon in like 2-3 hits, while I'm staring like "Oh fuck this is bad..." So I started slowly backing away firing off spells at his chest and using an awesome shout that freezes enemies solid which helped when I was waiting on regen to start, because it let me get in 5 swings while the giant was on the ground and trying to get up. Since I had picked up the perk that staggers them when you dual cast and had a +100% magicka regen robe and a +75% magicka regen hat on I actually pulled it off, but it took a while.
I got arrested stealing crap out of the alchemists shop in Whiterun last night, and after getting out of jail I walked back in to get all the crap back out of the evidence chest. I guess my sneak skill is high enough with the +25% sneak boots I have that I can hide under a torch with a guard staring right at me and not have him see me, because I looted the chest right in front of him. Either that or the guy was blind as hell.

Hmmm, after reading through the wiki, I think that my next character will be a redguard battlemage. For all that talk in oblivion about redguards poo-pooing magic, because they get bonuses to alteration and destruction.

Just had this happen as I walked out into the College's courtyard.
Oh! Nice to see you blood dragon. Glad you could drop in.
The good thing is that in such an enclosed location his ability to fly was negated almost completely. Leading to this:
Sadly now I have a giant skeleton laying in the middle of the courtyard that I have to run past every damn time I want to use the enchanter in the Arch Mage Quarters...

I have yet to be arrested yet. I almost was when I picked up a book in the archives of the Mages' College but I use Voice of the Emperor (which pretty much knocks everything down and everyone suddenly loves you) and was able to walk away without my wanted level to go up.

I'm not even sure what you would call the class I'm playing. I run around smacking dragons with my Elven Warhammer but against weaker stuff it tends to be sneaking and either dual casted spells, an Elven Bow, or dual wielded Elven swords. I got my sneak skill high enough that I can cast firebolts and such from sneak and not get detected so killing just about everything got really easy.

Bum, since you seem to be getting close to the end of the College questline, I feel that I have to tell you that the final boss fight is really underwhelming compared to the one you do right before it.

I already finished the College questline before I posted that and I agree. I had to get creative to win the fight before the last one.
So as not to spoil anything:
[SPOILER:58845588ac]I think the fight took me like an hour and a half while I died and reloaded until I realized he couldn't find me if I constantly shot him with an arrow while sneaking and then ran two rooms back when he got too close and might have spotted me. His two thralls were super easy and died in one firebolt shot each but good lord he demolished me in a shot or two from his lightning. Once I finally abused the sneak system and beat him I was like "Damn I hope the next fight isn't harder..."
Then I get back and stop the dark elf from fucking with the Eye of Magus with two swings of my warhammer after I get him away from it. So disappointing that the hardest things in that fight were the magical anomalies, seriously fuck those things they can survive way too many spell blasts and still take three or four hammer hits.[/SPOILER:58845588ac]
I'm doing the Thieves Guild right now. It is kinda easy but that might be because I've got my sneak so high stuff can run right up to me and still not see me until I stick my swords in their gut. Several conjurers and flame atronauchs found that out last night before I went to bed.

I'm using a sword/shield combo, the extra defence is nice, but I don't feel like I'm doing enough damage. I'm level 14, I'm thinking I should start investing in more magicka.

I'm playing a (female) Wood Elf archer. I don't do thiefy things, but I use stealth and arrows to take out enemies. I keep a low level sword and dagger around for those times where I get overwhelmed and point blank shooting isn't practical though. I'm going to get into alchemy and poisons as well, too. Basically, Shouts are the only thing keeping me alive against dragons.
Once the mod tools come out, I hope someone creates a mod that will allow female characters to wear the male versions of clothes though. I don't *mind* having dresses and such available, but my Ranger would appreciate being allowed to wear civilian pants too.

Working through the Companions quests now. I really like how they revealed the organization's secret. At one moment, I thought "aw crap, I'm getting betrayed" then I thought "Aw crap, this is turning into a revenge mission" then "Hell yeah, bitch, I know what reward I want from the companions, now."

Sneak is pretty awesome. I found a sleeping dragon, cast muffle so I could more easily sneak up on him, then went to town him with x15 dagger crits. Poor guy didn't get a chance to move.

A few quick questions:
--When you steal stuff, can you sell it to anyone, or does the game force you to sell only to TG fences a few random people here and there?
--Is the guard AI fixed so that they don't know you committed a crime without seeing it?
--Are there any kind of stealth kills you can perform?

I watched that scene with at my Brothers while he was playing.
I decided once I was finished with Thieves Guild I was heading that way because yes, I want that reward as well

How's the alchemy system in Skyrim? Are there as many ingredients as in Oblivion?

There are tons of ingredients all over the damn place. I avoid doing alchemy because I end up with huge stacks of heavy potions in my inventory, but I have tons of each common ingredient just hanging out in a chest in my house and a decent number of the rarer ingredients. Plus alchemy stations are all over the place too, you'll run across them even in caves and such which is what lead to me being overburdened after every dungeon I cleared early on. Buying a house is almost necessary just to store all the potions and ingredients.

1. Have to sell stolen goods to Fences. I only know of a few, all from doing Thieves Guild quests.
2. Yes. If nobody sees you commit the crime you're good. If you're seen, you can kill the witnesses and you're good since nobody reported the crime.
3. You get crits with weapons in stealth. If the attack is strong enough to kill them with one hit, you get a cinematic kill.
