While I may be waiting on this game till GotY edition, because I am lazy and don't want to buy each DLC individually, this scene alone is why I want this game.

Hah I walked up to one of those giants thinking it was friendly and had it send my corpse flying into the air. I was like "Awesome a fucking mammoth and a huge dude with a club!" which quickly turned into "Oh shit! Home run!" Can't wait to get back home and play some more.

Ok, so I just finished a 16 hour "fuck, I can't put this game down" playing spree (including not eating!), and here's my impressions so far. (WARNING! INCOMING WALL OF TEXT!)
1) The game looks spectacular. The scenery is borderline pornography by itself, the character models look great, and so far, I haven't hit any real bugs to speak of.
2) After hitting level 15, I can say that there seems to be at least some minor level of enemy scaling, but nothing compared to oblivion. Your biggest danger is running into something you have no business fighting (Word of Warning): if you guys hit a dungeon called Bloodlet throne, or something to that effect below level 10, run like hell. The boss in that dungeon will fuck your shit up if you don't turn the difficulty way down, which actually leads me to my second point.
3) This game is pretty damn hard. I had to turn the difficulty down to apprentice because I was tired of every fight with the undead or sub boss enemies being a nightmarish struggle, and even then, you'll still get your shit fucked up. A lot. So save often.
4) Holy Shit, this game is awesome!
5) After hitting something around 7 dungeons, I can say that none of them have been repeats, They've all beer really unique. Another point in it's favor.
6) Duel wielding isn't as awesome as we'd hoped it's be. Not being able to block makes combat rather dangerous, even with a good set of heavy armor (thanks to the great new blacksmith and enchanter skilsl).
7) Bows are good again, but not exactly a great choice against fast enemies, like dragons.
8)Dragon fights live up to the hype. You'll freak out every time you see one, especially if you're all alone, and if you win, you feel a great deal of satifaction that you brought that thing down.
9) Sheogorath returns in this game. I won't spoil what happens, but it's very entertaining and, what's more, you get the wabbajack out of it. I will tell you that you start it in Solitude.
10) Pickaxes are extremely rare, and I've only seen one smelter in the game so far :/ .
tl;dr; Bethesda listened to our complaints and seems to have fixed most, if not all of the most annoying problems with oblivion and this game kicks 72 flavors of ass

I'm loving what I've played. But if I hear one more person bitch about it because it doesn't have online multiplayer I will chew a hole open in their neck.

I'm enjoying this game so far but I hope they weaken the dual magic. Aside from the Witches of Orphan Rock and their creation and the first dragon I fought, I've been able to kill every thing I cross with Flamethrower-Spark combination.

So... the game is entirely in black and white?

Okay at first I was at peace with not having this game. But between all I've read about it, and having no D&S game this weekend, it is official. It is getting painful.
If anyone would like one slightly used immortal soul in exchange for a copy, PM me.
EDIT: offer rescinded. A very good friend of mine just gifted it to me as a Vet's Day present. Jaw, meet floor. Newly born Wood Elf Dragonborn, MEET SKYRIM!

So far I haven't had too many difficulty issues myself, but then I spent a good chunk of the last 6 months playing Demon's Souls and Dark Souls so I might never find anything difficult in another game again. I've found that if you bust out the magic even the novice spells can murder stuff when dual casted which helps a lot with difficulty.
I do agree though they fixed nearly all my complaints from Oblivion and really made this game a blast. So glad I dropped the money at launch for it, it was worth every penny.

Yeah, I got smashed by a Giant also lol.
Just finished the Dark Brotherhood Quests, had a good twist in it I honestly wasn't expecting.
[SPOILER:2cc370e7d9]Didn't see the decoy Emperor coming at all.[/SPOILER:2cc370e7d9]
And you get some pretty cool perks for finishing it.
I'm level 19 now and seriously loving this game.

THANK YOU! Totally my favorite race, except for the annoying voice acting they always get stuck with.
This is the first Elder Scrolls game where I've actually made a female character, too--which I'm starting to regret given the armor design for females on some of these pieces, but oh well. I'm sure there'll be a decent set SOMEWHERE that looks like someone might actually wear it in an arctic environment.

I've more or less decided to do something rather stupid in my playthrough and do a restoration/candlelight only run as a Breton, which, up until the point I started getting the good heavy armor upgrades, was a bit of a nightmare because I was everyone's punching bag. But now that I've made myself a set of legendary dragonbone armor and even 2 legendary daedric swords, the game has gotten much easier. so I went back to master difficulty
Oh, and anyone who hasn't started the companion quests DO IT NOW!!! Seriously, you're gonna love what you get out of it.

Yeah as soon as the first round of football games is over today I'm going home and getting some more playtime in. I have to find a place to store all my stuff though because I keep getting a few baddies into a dungeon and running out of room. 5000 gold for a house is hard to get when you can't hold enough stuff from every dungeon to sell because you are carrying so many potions, ingots, and dragon bones that your inventory once "cleared" is only 40 under your max weight.
I keep finding the ingredients for potions and then will run across a crafting station midway through a dungeon and make even more, I probably need to stop that because those things end up taking up so much space. I've left 5 or 6 piles of useless test potions laying on the floors of dungeons already. I've even sold off all my heavy armor to try to free up more space and started just wearing robes which does seem to make fights a touch harder but then also makes magicka come back twice as fast so I can spam off even more spells.

I've worked about 40 hours over the past 3 days (the campus is a fucking nightmare right now thanks to Sandusky), so I haven't had much time to invest in the game, but here is what I've noticed.
1) No classes. Yay! I can just focus on my stats without having to pick my main attributes and stick with them throughout the game.
2) Magic is fun. I originally tried to do an assassin-ish character, but I had too much fun using the flamethrower spell to actually bother using physical weapons. Another nice reason why getting rid of classes was a good call.
3) I wish I could unlock and zoom the camera in and out in third person. It was a nice way of killing time as I ran from town to town in Morrowind/Oblivion. Looking at the vistas and checking out how cool my character looked were added bonuses.
4) The inconsistent voice acting peppered with Norse/Icelandic/Swedish accents is pretty amusing.
5) Thanks to dungeons all looking the same, I hated going dungeon crawling in Oblivion. Now, for the most part, every single location feels unique to a good extent, and I actually look forward to finding caves and ruins to explore.

Eh, they gotta get points however they can. Showing skin on female characters is usually one of the better ways to get those points.

Yeah, it's shameful as hell sometimes, and it makes me feel more embarrassed as an adult than anything.
Reminds me of this video at around the 2:00 mark:

I just finished the Thieves Guild.
You have some choices towards the end (I don't know if there is a different outcome from your choice) but I went the "Noble" path, you should understand what I mean whenever you get there. I have to say, the reward was kinda shitty and I wonder if I went the "for my self" path if I would have gotten the reward I wanted.
The rewards I'm talking about. It WILL spoil the Thieves Guild Story.
[SPOILER:221a1fa38c] I got a spell that I can switch out from becoming a Nightingale and returning the Skeleton Key. The Light Armor is BAD ass looking, but I really wish I could have gotten the Skeleton Key (if it's even possible) Bascially it's a lockpick that can't break, while returning it you can use it. I suppose if you got it, then just quested everywhere else in the world, you could always return it later, then finish the Thieves Guild Chain.[/SPOILER:221a1fa38c]

Here's one thing I really appreciate though: I hadn't realized it, but there are different textures for the same kind of armor. There are like three different kinds of fur armor that all have the same stats, but look different. I just happened to come across the skimpy version (that is literally a fur bikini) and assumed I would be stuck in stuff like that for the whole game. Not so. I very quickly found new fur armor, and right now I'm rocking a badass set of leather armor that is eminently cool looking and practical.
As long as I get that, I have no problem with providing the eye-candy version for the guys. It's when I get locked into it too that I get annoyed. (Cramps my role playing style.) Looks like they thought of that though. Thank you Bethesda!

Multiple designs for the same armor set? Nice! Please let me know if this continues for the upper-tier gear.

I know right? That blew me away. I assume its probably just the lower tier but maybe both. We'll see.
Also, how did everyone get smashed by giants? Even if you miss the guy who specifically warns you about them, the giant's body language as you approach clearly says stay away. It reminded me of the CPs from Half Life 2, so I turned around and walked away.
