http://abc.go.com/fallpreview/schedule

Here's a list of all the new shows ABC is bringing to us, this fall.

Most of it, looks like idea-rehashed sitcoms, and wanna-be soaps.

The worst of the bunch: Cavemen. This show is BASED on the Geico caveman commercials! Cavemen living in America and trying to come to terms with the racist biogtry that they must face on a day to day basis. The commercials are good for a snicker or smirk at best. And, they are only 30 seconds long. How do take an already worn out joke, and stretch it into a 30 minute series?

The only one I am willing to give a try: Bigshots. And, that's only becasue Christopher Titus is in it.

http://www.nbc.com/Fall_Preview/

NBC isn't giving us too much new stuff. Although, one show that has the potential to be awesome, is "Bionic Woman". Yes, a remake of the original show, that was in itself, a spinoff of The Six Million Dollar Man. Watch the trailer, and it looks like it could be a well done remake, with a great cast.

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview_2007/

When, you're the top dog, why fix what isn't broke?

Not much new here to catch the eye either, except for a new "Forever Knight"/"Angel" ripoff called "Moonlight" about a P.I. who is a vampire.

A private investigator that's also a vampire? Dammit, I'm tired of the "Detective with a shtick" genre. Ooooohhhhh, this detective has OCD! Ooohh, this detective can talk to the dead. This one is delusional. This one has poor people skills.

There gonna make a robotic detective and then I'm gonna have to change my namesake to something else.

(I've also read an unpublished book about a detective that was also a werewolf, which was extremely good)

And Michael Vartan Cool

I haven't gotten my stolen DVD of season pilots yet, so it's hard to judge what I'll be watching next season. I'm a little sad to see "What About Brian" not returning in place of "October Road" and "Notes From the Underbelly" each getting their shot; not to mention "Knights of Prosperity" not returning either. But when I think how unfortunate things are with these shows gone... I just remember "The Evidence" and that it got canceled just as quickly as it should have - that always makes me feel better.

Other thoughts: I'm surprised "Jericho" got shafted. From what I heard, that show had a strong following. CW hasn't announced their line up yet, but "Veronica Mars" was not listed in the returning shows. I know I could've been a better fan and actually watched more than I did this season, nonetheless, I'd be sad if it is let go. And CW has a tendency to make decisions at the last minute.

For shows that sound interesting:

NBC
Chuck - Sounds like "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" going Bond style. No, that's not a good thing.

The IT Crowd - Can NBC get lightning to strike twice with another BBC remake? My money is against it, but "The Office" improved drastically in its second season against a fairly lame first run. So IT might be worth watching just to see if it improves.

Journeyman - Ignore the fact there were a series of games based on the same name (also about time travel), I find that all time travel shows that aren't Quantum Leap just don't work. Yes, even Timecop.

Life - "a former police officer who, after years of false imprisonment, returns to the force with a decidedly different philosophy." This sounds like House P.I. If there's a strong enough actor to play the role... Might work. Might. Not likely. (I totally failed to check who is the lead, but whatever.)

ABC
Eli Stone (not yet scheduled) - "a San Francisco lawyer who finds out he has prophetic powers and decide to use them for good."? Greg Berlanti? SOLD! I'm there. Sounds like a mid seasoner...

Not as strong a season for my current favorite network... They canceled a lot of good shows... And a lot of bad ones (Jim/Lopez). They'll suffer for it, I'm sure.

CBS
Who cares?

So, Fox and CW are to be added tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll see both of these networks take a risk. Fox had the brilliant "Justice" last fall and unwisely moved it to Fridays... And CW needs all the help it can get. I hear they have 3 new dramas against the one new drama which was "Runaways" (a show with a great pilot, but a terrible 2nd and 3rd episodes). The problem with CW is they're losing (at least) two (most likely three) big fan favs with the loss of Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven, both left over from their glory days and old mission statement. The problem with CW at current is that it's a network without an identity. Hopefully, we'll see them move closer to front and center this season now that its survived its first year.

And, yes, I am aware the CW shows has already released info on two of their three new shows (Gossip Girl and Reaper) - just holding off for now...

Wasn't that what USA's Forever Knight was?

Edit: Found this tonight:

"CBS is banking on a unique concept for a reality show this fall. The tentatively titled Kid Nation takes a group of eight-to 15-year-old kids, plops them in the middle of a ghost-town with no adults, and ask them to create their own rules.

According to insiders, the goal is for the kids is to build a functional society. They have to pass laws, choose leaders and build an economy. The kids may also be given choices between things they need (food and supplies) and things they want (example: A Nintendo Wii).

Kids will be free to leave at any time, and there is no elimination."

This is semi-related to the topic...
Has anyone seen the early pilot forTRAVELER ??? I thought it was just amazing... my only problem is the same which existed with KIDNAPPED this past year: you need to maintain the fast-paced storyline for the entirety of it's running time. That's exactly why Kidnapped was shot down midway through the season. They couldn't keep up with the fast-paced story it had first started with. Traveler had better have some really amazing writers on staff, or they'll likely suffer the same fate. With any hopes, they'll be able to keep up! The pilot was really exhilarating!

And a side note to Tebor: ER is not in it's last season! For shame to you for thinking that!

See? Rolling Eyes

Law and Order was also a toss up, but we all know how that show was handled.

And "Traveler" was a pilot for last season and just got picked up for the summer. That should show how much faith ABC has for it... Of course, we live in a new era where good shows are actually on during the summer. ABC could be just be giving it its chance. But I see a "Daybreak" in its future...

L&O was kept on the schedule but they bumped Criminal Intent to cable (with new episodes, I believe). SVU will remain on the air as always...

Tebor on Fox:
The Sarah Connor Chronicles - As stated, I'll end up watching it.

New Amsterdam - I see this going the route of Brimstone, but maybe.

K-Ville - I already know this will not be the show I wish it was... But I'll continue to hope. "This buddy cop drama is set in post- Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, where two police partners have conflicting ideas about how to handle the city's problems."

And a few other shows I see ending up canceled. Surprisingly, it seems Fox will be gearing for a more female based audience next season. We'll see how that goes...

Criminal Intent got moved to Monday nights... but even more important is how they overhauled the show's format dramatically this season. They've completely dropped the "creative" showing-of-the-crime introduction previously used, replacing it with a half-assed introduction of the characters followed by the discovery of the body... I really feel like the producers are trying too hard to hold on the L&O: CI... I felt that it was doomed from the beginning, and that opinion has yet to change, even with it's recent overhaul. Unfortunately for them, before next season, they may want to consider hiring writers... I'm really sick of the "ripped from the headlines" episodes every single week! I think it's time to insert a little creativity into the mix!

L&O (the original) is set for several other seasons... so long as there's still a semi-attractive actress to portray an ADA, it shall remain on the air.

L&O: SVU... given it's characters' popularity, I can't foresee it's termination any time soon.

Someone was saying CW cancelled Veronica Mars... wasn't that one of their more popular shows?

Between VM being canceled and Gilmore Girls/7th heaven going off the air, the CW is screwed.

Actually no. It has a HUGE, vocal fanbase but piss poor ratings. Kinda like Firefly...

It's like ABC after Disney bought it. ABC looked bleak there for a few years, but it's became the giant a couple of years ago. Of course, now I believe NBC is on top. CW just needs a direction and good programming...

Because he's a friggin' millionaire! The show's been bringing in the green for him for nearly 20 years. He'll still get money from S.V.U. even without working on it. Sometimes it's good to retire.

Slight exaggeration: Wolf would still be working, but the costs of L&O isn't as feasible. Looks like one more season though...

CBS is way on top right now. NBC is actually getting killed in the ratings as their only "real" hits this season were Heroes and Deal or No Deal.

Big O is incredibly awesome, so accidentally being named after a character from that show is perfectly acceptable.

As per ABC's only two successes, heroes was awesome, and deal or no deal is the damnation of mankind.

Seconded with the Big O thing. The robotic detective thing has been done numerous times, but not in America.

Deal or No Deal is strangely addicting to watch.

NOND is ok. I love the models, the show is boring when some douchebag eliminates all the big amounts and then you stil have to watch them open cases for another 20 minutes. There needs to be an X-Factor of some sort. Some way that if you fuck up, there's still a chance you can walk out with big money. Like, if I opened the $1 million case on my first try, I'd just say "Fuck this!" and walk out. Maybe I'd break the phone too.

Honestly, I prefer "1 vs. 100", because:

1) There's actual questions
2) It requires more than just luck
3) You can play along at home
4) Bob Saget > Howie Mandel

Happily, NBC has confirmed that "1 vs. 100" will be returning for 6-8 weeks next year.

After listening to SModcast Episode 8 and Kevin Smith's little story about Reaper, CW might have executive problems. A good weeding out should take care of that mess after another bad season.

That's the way to do it, make money buy doing nothing.

Like Kaz & Fran Rubel Kuzui. Their names were listed as Executive Producers for both Buffy & Angel, yet neither had anything to do, what-so-ever with the shows. They fianced and directed the original Buffy TVS movie and held rights to the name and characters. Therefore when both shows came out, they received their names in the credits, and good sized royalty checks for doing absolutey nothing.

I thought Wolf wanted the original L&O to go at least 20 seasons, so he could surpass Gunsmoke. I don't see why NBC wouldn't want to make that a reality.

And if they won't, I don't see why some other network wouldn't.

He doesn't need to surpass the Simpsons, he's not going for longest running SHOW.

And there are several shows that run way longer the Simpsons including:

SNL
The Price Is Right
General Hospital
As The World Turns
Days Of Our Lives
Jeopardy

Law & Order is vying for the spot of longest running DRAMA. To do so, they will have to run 21 seasons, one more than Gunsmoke.
