if you want to talk about nice animation, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time had some great animation in it. the prince just moved so fluidly, it was great.

watching that Smash Bros video when it hit the Princess made me wonder, what is up with the Japanese focusing on the hand and then panning down to show the arm, the body, then full form body?.. It's been done SO many time... Sailor Moon is the most prominent that I can think of...
Maybe they have the same sexual drive as Gomez (from the Addams Family)?
Kiss the hand, kiss the arm, and then continue kissing where the cameras aren't allowed to look... A la then current Americans standards and (seemingly) now current Japanese sexual innuendo?
Is porno still a hottopic in Japan?, cause any japanese porno I find ALWAYS has the dude's wang blocked/pixelated... are they really that uptight about sexual reproductive organs over there? are they really that misogynistic that a guys parts can't be shown but a girl's can?
Hell I'm used to pissing in the alley waiting for a bus/taxicab.

Not necessarily the prettiest game ever, but I really enjoyed the art direction in Ghost Trick, and the use of rotoscoping.

ONLY GOOD GRAPHICS IN MY GAMES.
Seriously, though, I'll snatch up a Wii one day. I don't care too much for major games beyond a few titles, but I definitely want to pick up a lot of the indie/marketplace exclusives that it has.

I really enjoyed the Dragonball Z inspired graphics of Dragonquest VIII. Such vivid colors that were fun to look at:

The entirety of Xenogears when I was like, twelve.
The water effects in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. It's the little things that really matter.
The runny-looking bloom effect of the lights in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The sheer smoothness of the framerate in MGS2.
Pretty much every time you enter the Otherworld in Silent Hill 3 (of all the Silent Hills, I think that has the best Otherworlds).
More recently, in Pokemon Black/White when you get to that massive city with the shifting camera angles.

Ooh. You're the first person to list a handheld game. Really Pokemon blew you away with its graphics? Hmm.

I think the first game that actually impressed me was the remake for Quest for Glory 1. This was one of the first Sierra reboots and was damn near amazing. Also, the first time I played War Craft 2 and saw some of the cut scenes was pretty impressive.

I didn't realize they actually re-released Hero's Quest with the Quest For Glory 1 name on it. I thought that was why they remade it in the first place, because they had to change the name.

That quote made me remember Wave Race 64 (N64) - Awesome water effects (at the time), and fun to play.
X (GB) - Polygons on the original Gameboy , made by the same guys who made Starfox. Its successor, X-Scape (DSi), also looks awesome thanks to some great art direction.
Star Wars: Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II (GC) - First game I purchased with my Gamecube. It looked fantastic and really set a Star Wars-y mood.

Bloom effects really strain my eyes. They need to take that crap down to about 1% of what they currently set it. Excessive bloom effects in a game, especially if I can't turn it off, significantly lowers my opinion of a games visuals.

I have to say graphics in general are actually starting to annoy me. Back when I was a kid video games looked like video games and not movies. Most video games these days look pretty amazing, but what happens is it renders all older games obsolete in the eyes of most of todays youth. Many older games will not be given the time of day by most of the younger generation because they happen to look uglier. Even if they were superior in most other ways. Many of my favorite games were simple looking and ugly as shit by todays standards, but they were still awesome to play.
Holy shit, I just read my own post. Looks like I've become the 'old fart' on this website.
