I say bollocks to LoZ1 and all of you who wank to it. It's bland and boring, I thought so even when I was a kid and it came out.

Imagining some kid in a deep v and tight jeans smugly pushing his thick glasses back onto his face.

The first Zelda was fantastic. Probably my personal favorite. I don't really care if it's not as 'pretty' as some of the newer Zeldas. I don't really care for much of the newer games anyway. There's probably no other game out there more nostalgic to me. Yeah, I may be old. Sue me.

2D Mario games. I don't hate them but I don't find them fun either, never did. Just running, jumping and flying is boring and with no real reward at the end but "Thanks, Mario. See you next time". The only thing I really liked about any of them was the castle stages in SMW but thats it.

Don't worry if you hated the others you will hate 7 more. For as much as some people claim it to be the end all-be all of the Final Fantasy series, it really failed to impress me compared to earlier games in the series. It also looks like total crap now even compared to the other FF games on the system.

In all fairness it was the first FF game on the PSOne and was made in 95-96, released in 97 and originally meant to be a SNES game, so using the "it looks like crap" argument is like saying Da Vinci's early works were looking like crap compared to the later stuff in his life. Though if you hate every other FF game then probably you'll hate this one too. It was indeed the turning point in the series line of good RPG's to... whatever the hell they are now. Hell I'll still play it though

Final Fantasy VII is probably the most overrated game of all time, so that will be a great experience for you! I think the game had a lot of potential, however some really poor design choices (like the terrible materia-system who makes every character interchangeable) and the fact that the awesome opening of the story fell kinda flat after leaving Midgar, made this game a decent, but seriously overrated game. Now Final Fantasy VI on the other hand, that is an epic game!

I love FFVII, but just the game only. All the other shit they added to it is garbage.

What's the difference between the Materia system and the Esper system?

Espers primarily only taught you spells. With the materia you could use a variety of different abilities, but only if that materia was equipped. So I can see what he means. I like both games however. I'd have to say VI is still better than VII, in my opinion. Even though VII is overrated, it's still very good.

I tried the demo for Warhammer 40k: Space Marine when it came out, and I don't see where all the hype came from following it. I thought it was pretty boring.

Super Mario 64. I've started that game many times, but I always get frustrated with the controls. I fall to my death over and over in the first level.
Old Tomb Raider -games (not counting the new ones that changed the gameplay style). Same problem. Half of the jumps goes wrong because of the controls and/or camera.
My little brother loves Uncharted games. It's like action movie for kids. Not that every good game needs to have gore in it, but this pink rollercoaster ride just feels way too soft.

You sir, are now my new nemesis...I don't care if this is the "Games you hate that everyone else loves thread". Uncharted is fucking fantastic! If the game seems to easy play it on Crushing Difficulty. About a 99% chance you slam the controller down in a fit of curse words. I actually never even noticied there wasn't any gore.

I played Uncharted 2 on a friend's PS3 recently, and I would have agreed with Vaen until the train level, which was one of my favorite gaming moments ever. It makes me want to buy a PS3 really badly. If Harrison Ford likes something, but you don't, then you have an incorrect opinion:

Is it just me or is Harrison Ford slowly slipping into madness? Have you guys seen interviews with him lately? He's starting to creep me out.

He looks kinda burned out. He's still pretty bad-ass though. Apparently he pilots a helicopter to do search and rescue and vigilante stuff on his time these days.

Sonic CD. I had always heard many people say this was the best Sonic game. When I finally played it on the Gems Collection, I was pretty underwhelmed. However, I love this song.

I agree Douche... the difference is limited in my view. Both destroy a class based magic system. Everyone can cast everything pissed me off. This is why FFIV was a better game. Classes make things more interesting.

I didn't like Sonic CD that much either, Sideway. The levels had that Chaotix feel where it just felt like you were walking on randomly-colored platforms instead of a real environment.

The Gems version of Sonic CD is imperfect, if I recall correctly. The water is supposed to be different colors in the Past, Present, Good Future, and Bad Future, but it's not in the Gems version. Not a huge deal I suppose, but still annoying.
Far more egregious is the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which includes the weak PlayStation version of Mega Man 8 instead of the superior Saturn version.
