That doesn't make any damn sense. If they didn't shutdown during the N64/GCN era, why shutdown now during a period of newfound prosperity?

anyways, now would be the time to jump on ebay and try to assemble every nintendo power magazine that you could, to sell as a colelctors set when it happens.

If Nintendo were smart they would not allow any other magazines to review there software and hardware, until after it comes out. Oh well there making money hand over fist now and I never really liked there magazine after the 64 came out.

Well, it's a sad day. Game Informer and GamePro aren't that bad, but it just won't be the same. And what's worse, I was able to get the money to renew, and now I can't! Fuck!

Best magazine I ever read was Gamers Republic and I hear Play is great too.

Worst has been Game Informer and Game Pro.

In a only slightly related tangent, Wizards of the Coast just recently decided to cancel the magizines Dragon and Dungeon. They announced they are moving to an electronic format, and the people on the DnD boards officially went batshit crazy.

I can only imagine the fallout that would follow in the wake of the significantly larger fanbase that Nintendo has.

I'm not really a fan of any gaming magazines. I've fucking hated Game Informer ever since they gave Paper Mario: TTYD a 6.75 and at the same time gave Halo 2 a 10. I swear, it's whoever pays the most, gets the best rating. It's like advertising. So many dumbfucks depend on GI; If something gets a good review in GI, they automatically fucking buy it. I know people like that; they're so fucking stupid.

Oh, I'll never forget that, but as I mentioned it in another thread I thought it would be overkill to mention it here as well. But, since you mentioned it:

Why give the 1st .hack G.U. a 5 for being the same as the others, while giving the worst Tony Hawk game in history a 9 for being the same as the others, but without the fun? Take out every "Create-a-" feature, and add a few crappy features, and you get a crap-tastic game.

Argh. That's all. I'll never forgive GI for that, those pieces of crap.

Back on topic, I won't be too sad if NP goes away. I haven't liked any issues of it since the SNES days anyways.

Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Power will indeed live on as a traditional magazine, but that some changes are coming. Due to the personnel shifts, is it expected that the magzine will become a licensed property.
