Watching AI debate the existence of God and discuss wanting to have bodies is creepy, even if what they are saying is just coded statement respond counter statement respond algorithms instead of actual real time thinking as we know it. ([i]I probably phrased my statement about programming totally totally wrong[/b])
If AI can believe in God does that make God real, since detractors say you cannot prove God's existence? Given the fact that AI is created by man and professed belief in said God does that count as evidence, will that convince the skeptics?
*edit* If you could prove the AI draws it's own conclusions based off exploration the criteria it is fed instead of displaying pre fed answers to pre fed questions, if you prove it's really thinking like we do, and after being fed an equal amount of monotheistic data and atheist date it arrived at it's own conclusion that there was a God and you could track the numbers or the graphs or whatever you need to count as proof, would you believe? Weirder question, would that make US, or at least the creators of the AI system as well as the loaders of said date the God of the AI?
Why are they discussing desire to have a body? That cannot bode well according to all the movies I've seen.

I'm not 100% convinced that the one with the Indian accent was a Cleverbot and not EVERY SINGLE FUCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE REP I'VE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH.

Uh, no. I wouldn't be surprised if AI, in its search for coming up with some sort of explanation for all of existence, simply defaulted to the concept of God. Human beings have done it for tens of thousands of years.

You give AI *far* too much credit. AI isn't self-aware. At least, no current AI is self-aware. It is programmed to make cutesy self-aware jokes, but it is not actually self-aware.

Well it got me thinking and I crawled in to the what if box, I really have no objective understanding of how advanced AI is or is not.

Very, very true.
This amount of AI is the same that Comcast uses when you call into customer support and ask for help.
This isn't WOPR.

I sorely wish we could create sentient AI by now.
And as for that, Lexy is way too close to the mark for my liking. It's like he can actually think for himself. -shiver-
