No matter what you think of Uwe Boll's movies (Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, Postal) you gotta hand it to German film-director for this: He's found his niche in the world, and he's sticking to it. His niche is making movies based on videogames.

His next project: Far Cry.

Filming on Far Cry the movie is set to begin on June 20 and last until August 28. The film adaptation of the tropical action-game will be shot in Vancouver, Canada, because it's a tropical paradise.

Actors Michael Paré (BloodRayne II) and Jason Statham (In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Movie) have been rumored to play the role of Jack Carver in the film, but nobody knows for sure who it will end up being.

He better not screw this up like he did with BloodRayne.

What about Bloodrayne II: Vampires of The Wild West?

If game companies knew how much gamers hated this guy, maybe they would stop selling him the rights to make movies of their games.

If it weren't for Uwe Boll, I'd never have my alias Uwe Wood Pyun Jr. If I didn't have that, I'd actually have to put my name on my student films. Yikes.

Boll has said a number of times, he's been able to get the rights because no one else is clamoring for them. Except for hot properties like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear, he's actually right. Sad world indeed. Sad

There had been talk of John Woo producing and/or directing a Metroid film, but that seems to have dissipated. I guess someone told him there are no doves on Zebes. Sad

As for rights, there's the problem that DarkMaze ran into with Bad Dudes. It can be a pain in the ass to find out exactly who has the rights to certain properties, and not all these companies have American offices.

You know what game I'd like to make into a movie?

Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters.

I mean, come on, that even sounds like a movie title. Total Carnage might be fun too.

Or DarkStalkers. Actually, I don't care if a DarkStalkers movie ever gets made. But I'd like to be on a casting panel responsible for finding naive up and coming actresses to play Felicia, Morrigan, and Lilith.

Actually, I'd prefer DarkStalkers to stay as an animated movie/OVA/whatever considering the "success" of Street Fighter's live action movie. Also, it's a lot eaiser to draw some of those special moves than it is to emulate them in reality.

It's been over 10 years since the live action Street Fighter came out though. CGI has come a long way, they could make the moves look convincing enough.

And now they're making a new SF live action movie.

If they casted Jason Statham, a.k.a. the Transporter, I would go see this movie regardless if Jason Statham told me himself that the movie sucked so much ass he wanted to pay the 1.6 million it will make just so no one has to witness it.

I second that.
