It's the kind Les Claypool often wears, most notably in the video for "Shake Hands With Beef". He also wore it in his interview for boingboing.

Here's a side picture:

Sorry about the crappy quality.

Here's a clearer one, from the front:

As far as I can tell, it's made of brown leather (or some similar material) and has a short bill.

If anyone knows where I can find one, that'd be swell too.

On a related note, anyone know what those angled, often bill-less hats are called? I've seen them on golfers, on George in the pilot for Seinfeld, and in a store; the tag doesn't list the name.

looks like a leather snap-brim driving cap. Some are roomier on top, so you can stretch it like he does. I wear knit ones in the winter if dress calls for something fancier than my standard skull cap.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I'm not familiar with the first hat, but the second one as described sounds like a good 'ol flat hat, made forever stylish by our good friend Robot Gumshoe TheRoboSleuth.

A quick search through Wikipedia looks like the answer to both of those questions is a "flat cap", though there were a couple others that looked similar. See if it matches: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_cap (see the last picture on the page)

I've always thought the hats looked cool but wouldn't be caught dead wearing one.

And kudos to you for agreeing with me! That way I don't have to track you down and ritually slay you with a claymore!

True dat. The reason I'm looking is that my Halloween costume this year will be SHWB Les Claypool. The thin parka-like thing will be easy to find, as well as the black slacks.

Side note, anyone know where I can get those glasses?
