if time travel happened, couldn't it be said that if anything had changed we wouldn't notice because to us it would have always seemed like it was like that?

That's just what they want you to think!

I think everyone is assuming that time travel can go to anywhen, when you may only be limited to when you build a working device that can recieve a traveler.

When we finally design a time travel bridge, someone will step out of it from the future and call it a success.

Plus, saying time travel is impossible is a bad thing to say. Its asserting the proof of a negative for one. And its assuming the only way to travel in time is by way of exceeding the speed of light.

well, technically we are travelling forward in time. so, saying its impossible is a fallacy.

Yeah I travel through time all the time, I don't even need a device!

I can't seem to find a clip of the scene, but there's an episode of Red Dwarf where the crew manages to establish time travel capabilities on the ship. They use it and pick some year in the 80's. It works just fine, but bear in mind they're in space.

"We've actually done it! We've traveled through time! We're now stumbling around in the outer space of the eighties!"

That is time travel, stuff like the Delorean and TARDIS "chronoport."

So I had this thought a while ago.
If stopping time was possible and we moved an object from one spot to another and then started time up again, wouldn't that object be destroyed from the sheer force it would take to move something from one spot to another in no time at all?

It is all about perspective. In this situation the people who had time stopped for them would not notice it, and the people who were watching time stopped would. It all has to do with the speed in which you move. The real question is, how do you move fast enough without dying to see the side effects of time adjustment.

"Za Warudo" is the first thing that could think of. Isn't it similar to the Theory of Relativity or what ever it was that said "Objects moving fast see slow moving objects not moving at all, and objects moving slow can barely see the fast moving objects"?

Hacker, it's a principle of physics. The object is moving at the same speed as the person moving it. It's the same reason that, if you jump while on a moving airplane, you don't fly to the back of the fuselage.

I already posted this link in this thread, but I'll repeat it since it is relevant again:

Wow, now everybody is a timetraveler?

Oh well, starting to think of it, none of us is actually knowing what time means in physics. I once heard that it would take hours to actually explain time.

That and gravity, if we assume string theory is actually correct.

If we go back and try to change the title it could start a chain reaction that could destroy the entire universe!

I think it has to do with forks, possibly another way of defining string theory. This Is A Joke

Well, something MUST be faster than light if light can't even escape a black hole. Let that "scientist" disprove THAT!

two critical components are needed when it comes to time travel

a flux capaceter

a delorian

without those, youre fucked

oh and welcome to the boards Rokket Dawg

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!
