I saw a matinee of this, as usual, to save money
Interesting movie. In a way, it's exactly what you'd expect it to be. Even for a film that's as crazy as it is, some parts may even be stretching the rules of that world. It's pretty humorous at parts.
It certainly is a cool concept for a movie. I can't think of any movie with this kind of anachronistic plot. Old West and aliens.
I think a lot of feed back will end up like mine. A bit of "What the hell?" and that it wasn't a bad movie.

I saw it... Action was too hectic at times and you had a bunch of repeats of the SAME GUY getting killed by an alien. The ending was just inconclusive character wise IMO.

That would actually be pretty awesome. Let's do that, Will Smith can play his own character's great-great-great-great grandfather who rallied the folk of a small western town together and shot down the first scout ship...

We could establish the two movies being in the same universe! Finally, all my 90's-sci-fi-movies-starring-Will Smith dreams will come true!

It was okay. There was one MAJOR plot hole.
At one point, it is learned that the aliens don't like sunlight, hence they tend to stay in underground caverns during the day. Later, a huge battle takes place in direct sunlight.... to no advantage whatsoever for the humans. Um... okay?

Ok, done. Not watching this movie. The whole light thing has been done, if not once, then extensively.

Yeah that was a little odd... all I could say to argue that is a weak nocturnal arguement but still it was a damn large plot hole. [SPOILER:104cc35433]Though it was brought up about twenty minutes prior to the ending, and the movie was leading to the nocturnal thing with only attacks at night.[/SPOILER:104cc35433]

Just the mention of Will Smith in a western with sci fi made me shudder. Then someone had to go post a picture of it.

I guess some writers/directors feel that if you are facing an enemy that is smarter or better-equipped, then you have to find some simple way of killing them. Not saying it's a good idea, but it's one of the reasons I typically avoid non-futuristic alien invasion movies.

Well I haven't seen it yet, and I assume other folks here who have could say it wasn't that big of a deal.
Might have jumped the gun on that.

Liked it too. Only one problem with it: I felt I didn't know enough about the aliens. They had no sympathetic traits at all, which I suppose could be a metaphor for the dehumanization of Native Americans in early Westerns.
