Those look like "light-shinai" in the beginning.

What happened to the Jedi Consular? That was my favorite class in KOTOR I and II (not counting prestige classes of course). I am saddened. Now I have to play as a glow stick wielding fighter or rogue and not a glow stick wielding mage .

Three different versions of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available once the game is finally released: the Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Collector's Edition. By securing a pre-order, you'll be able to get early access to begin playing before TOR officially launches, as well as a Color Stone that changes the color of your weapon effect.
Today's announcement claims that pre-orders will be limited; it's unclear if this is to limit the number of people who will get in early or simply a way of encouraging gamers to act fast.
As for the different versions, the Standard Edition includes the game and 30 days of game time for $59.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition (available only through Origin) includes all of that and five virtual items (the Flare Gun, Training Droid, personal HoloDancer, HoloCam, and STAP vehicle) for $79.99. The Collector's Edition price jumps up to $149.99 and includes all of the aforementioned in addition to an exclusive mouse droid, physical items -- a Darth Malgus statue (made by Gentle Giant), Jedi Master Gnost Dural journal (from Chronicle Books), soundtrack, security key, and a map of the in-game galaxy -- and access to the in-game Collector's Store which holds CE-exclusive in-game items.
Whichever version you order, there is still no official release date for The Old Republic. BioWare's Ray Muzyka says they are "targeting" holiday 2011, though that's hardly an assurance it won't slip into 2012, something that is a real possibility.
"Our teams at BioWare and EA, along with our partners at LucasArts, are laser-focused on creating a high quality game, but just as importantly, they are resolute in delivering a high quality service," he said. "We are taking all of the necessary steps to make sure The Old Republic has a thriving community built on a stable online foundation from day one, including limiting supply at launch to ensure that players easily transition into the servers. So whether you're waiting to join the Empire or the Republic, pre-order now to ensure you can enter the galaxy at launch!"
The game's official website will allow those who pre-order to redeem their code for early access now -- just don't expect to find out a date for when they'll be allowed in until BioWare has first settled on a release date. |

the standard edition & the collectors edition are the only worthwhile ones. the digital deluxe is bullshit. you only get 5 virtual items!? fuck that
the collectors edtion @ $149.99 is pretty pricey, but you get some cool swag

I'd like to get excited about this game, but I know deep down it's just another MMORPG. Also, I guess I'm not as big a fan of Star Wars as everyone else.
My question though is why would anyone NOT be a Jedi or Sith?

I suppose so they could play in the universe while being different from everyone else with that mentality.

Didn't know if I should start a new Thread since this is really about the trailer, but I got an e-mail today saying I've been selected to Beta Test!

for those who didnt get invited to the closed beta, IGN is giving out free keys. via 1up.com

MMOs require a greater investment than your typical game in more ways than one. The time commitment is a great deal higher than most games, and besides the cost of the game itself, you're expected to pay a monthly fee for subscription-based MMOs. That's exactly why beta access is always much appreciated when it comes to MMOs -- you want to know what you're getting into before buying the game.
A closed beta test of BioWare's upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently taking place. If you're not fortunate enough to have already received an invite, you're not out of luck -- keys are being given away through IGN. All you'll need is either an IGN or FilePlanet account; simply log in and request a key by the end of Friday, November 18.
Hopefully this will make it up to gamers who mistakenly received an email suggesting they were in the beta back in September when they really were not.
Once you've received your beta key, you'll need to register for a TOR account here, if you don't have one already. Redeem your key here and you'll be sent a beta test invite from no-reply@bioware.swtor.com at some point. Players will be invited every 24 hours until everyone with a key is in. The beta is set to run for four days in total.
The full game is scheduled for release on December 20. If you're looking for the digital version, your only option will be to purchase it through Origin. In order to ensure a high-quality launch, EA may temporarily limit copies of the game -- both at retail and online -- if sales exceed a certain figure. |

Hmm maybe I'll actually try it then. Didn't want to waste the money before especially after hearing a lot of not so good things about the game.
