Boo fucking hoo. These things happen all the time, and there is ALWAYS a disclaimer about how prices are subject change, limits may be imposed on orders due to availability, and offer only good while supplies last.

Yeah. Even "truth in advertising" laws have clauses that don't hold stores to pricing mistakes this huge.

How could you not guess that the super cheap price is not an error? I think if she really wants one, she should pay full price.

It wasn't her that lost it. It was stolen from her son.

Hmm, it could have actually been stolen, or her son wanted the second iPad. I tend to think the former for some reason.

Hm. Generally when mistakes like this happen, though, the retailer honors the price for those who bought it.

Still, if it went viral, I can imagine a bunch of idiots with dollar signs in their eyes trying to buy a metric fuckton to sell on ebay. So yeah.

Fuck that, this bitch wasn't dumb. I can almost see her smug face, eyes closed, yelling at the retailer "Nuh uh, you put it up there at that price so you gotta sell it to me at that price, hmph!"

If the price mistake was $699, and not $69, then they would probably honor it (and at least in California, when I lived there, they were required by law to).

No store is going to honor a mistake that knocks 90% off the price, however. It's clearly a mistake. And, looking at the price, very likely a prank (note the lack of the ".99" at the end).

Hey, anyone remember that $50 PS3?

I sure do. I ordered one, but I definitely didn't expect to actually get it. I wasn't going to raise a big stink over something that I knew was clearly a mistake.

This.

At my workplace if an old offer or whatever is left up on the shelf, it has to be sold at that price.

The same should apply here. I guess cause it's online they can get away with it but still if this happened in a store and i walked up and saw a $69 or whatever it was sticker on an ipad, they have to sell me it at that price.

Remind me to hit your store with a price gun in hand.

Now, there's wiggle room here since it's online, but this is how I understand it was well--I think CA has a law about it. Was your store in CA, Allow?

As I said, yeah, California does have a law about it. However, the law does not apply to gross errors (more than 80% off the price), nor does it apply to things beyond the store's control (someone switching a price tag).

^ AH, somehow I missed that part. I actually didn't know that about the law. Seems like a fair and prudent corollary though.

I need to go into a store and demand $500 in cash so they don't "disappoint me" as a customer!

I hate when people think they can buy it at the wrong price, at Radio Shack (at least in Michigan), the customer can either buy it at the corrected price or not buy it at all.

You might say "Well, wah-wah! The tag says THIS! You have to sell it to me for that!" Well, they're wrong. I can refuse to sell anything.

You joke about that but people do it lol. The only thing is we have like our own price tags so you can't stick anything on it lol. Though people do lift them off other items but we have ways to combat that.

This is the "customer is always right" mentality at it's finest. Because the retailer made a completely obvious mistake, some lady feels she's entitled to it, when really, she deserves jack shit. I'm all for taking advantage of a corporation's screwups, but this sense of entitlement is ridiculous. The quote at the end almost infuriates me. Paraphrased, "I thought I could trust Sears, and I'll never shop there again."

Boo fucking hoo. "I won't shop anywhere that won't let me rip them off blindly!" This lady would be better served by taking that $69, buying some metal pole, and jamming it up her fucking ass.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.
