I think it took three tries. The first lasted 2 weeks, the second 6 months and the third 20 years up to now.
I don't know how he quit though, but I don't think he used gums or patches (did they even exist at the time?).

On a side note, people doing smoking prevention or whatever often said there are about 1000 toxic products in a cigarette.
Is that true? And if it is, what's the point? Doesn't that make production costs become incredibly high?

My guess is the chemical additives are not expensive and since everything is done in mass quantities, the cost should be low. I'm pretty sure it costs pennies to create a pack of smokes, everything else is the result of taxes.

No, I don't think I will fuck Stummies.

Sorry for the "Holy shit Necroing!" Post, but I'm currently 2 weeks off of real cigs and using the E-Cigarette, just finished my first bottle of 11mg Nicotine and about to jump down to 8mg.

Anyone else use these E-Cigs? I'm finding it's making Quitting a lot easier than any other time I've tried. The only thing that might get me is the fact that they have like 60 different flavors available and as bad as it sounds, I've been smoking "Cheesecake" and it tastes wonderful.

I guess none the less it's just Nicotine and there’s no Tar or other additives in it, so I would say it's a lesser of the two evils either way.

I thought another bot necroed a thread. Anyway, I did use an E-Cigarette last year and it was pretty effective for a couple weeks. The only problem was that I would often forget to charge it or the charge would die, so I'd have no alternative but to buy a pack of cigarettes. I've had better results going cold turkey actually. I once quit for 4 months cold turkey. But as always, something will piss you off so badly that you just have to go buy a pack, and the cycle begins again. Right now I'm so swamped with work that I'm up all night usually and smoking helps me stay up. I had stopped from March until May of this year. Maybe I'll try stopping again once the summer is over.

"But father it is just watervapor, just as God intented." and then proceed to blow a big puff of smoke into a little kids face.

Oh and since this tread is necro did Douche wind up quitting? I need closure.

SNUS is MUCH different then Chewing tobacco. SNUS is spitless, meaning it can be swallowed if desired.

Quote:
Since snus is not intended nor recommended for inhalation, it does not affect the lungs as cigarettes do. Because it is steam-cured, rather than fire-cured like smoking tobacco or other chewing tobacco, it contains lower concentrations of nitrosamines and other carcinogens that form from the partially anaerobic heating of proteins; 2.8 parts per mil for Ettan brand compared to as high as 127.9 parts per mil in some American brands, according to a study by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health.[4] The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledges that Swedish men have the lowest rate of lung cancer in Europe, partly due to the low tobacco smoking rate, but does not argue for substituting snus for smoking, citing that the effects of snus still remain unclear. Around 2005 several reports, partially funded by the snus industry, pointed to the fact that no carcinogenic effects could be attributed to Nordic snus and this resulted in the removal of the warning label that claimed snus could cause cancer.

I smoked for about 6 years, and had no problem quitting recently. I just kind of analyzed why I smoked, or what excuses I had (to go on breaks, socialize, etc.) and reasoned that they weren't worth it or cut out what made me want to smoke in the first place.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Yeah the warning on the display says it can cause mouth cancer and tooth loss, plus have you ever opened one up? It's like a tea bag full of old dirty ashtray leavings.

I can hardly talk, I smoke a giant unfiltered tobacco pipe every Thursday (making this perfectly clear and unquoteable now to kill any jokes), that can't be good for my face.

I've done the SNUS and honestly, I don't feel like I get any nicotine at all from it.

I don't either, but it has stopped me from buying packs of cigs, plus the tins are like 2 bucks. But obviously moving to SNUS from cigarettes isn't ideal.

It's been about 11 weeks since I quit and I couldn't feel better. I'm not gonna pretend it was easy. It wasn't. I smoked a pack a day and back when I was drinking a lot it was well over a pack and a half. So going from that to none cold turkey was rough but man, it was worth it. I did all that while taking care of a baby.

I'm Batman.
