Can it be? Yes, it's true! With Syd's approval, Fernin and I present the third (nearly) annual SNES competition! We've got 10 new games and challenges that will push your abilities to their limit, so be prepared and practice up.
This contest will follow the same format as the previous ones, so those of you who've participated before will know the deal. If you're not familiar, the contest will consist of 10 challenges of varying style for 10 different games over the course of 10 weeks. Each week, a new challenge will be posted in a new thread, with a description and game file and any necessary save files provided for you. Before the deadline at the end of each week, you'll submit the movie file to either myself or Fernin for it to count. Further details will be provided when the competition begins.
The emulator we'll be using is SNES9x v1.52 once again. Make sure you get it if you don't already have it.
Interested yet? All you have to do to be apart of this fantastic event is simply post in this thread your intention to participate. The first round starts on July 11, so you have until the end of July 17 to enter (which is the deadline for the first challenge).

Instructions and such:
[SPOILER:a493042765]Download the rom and save file(s) provided in the first post of the new round thread. Place the save file(s) in the Saves folder. When the rom is loaded, hitting F1 will load the first state, F2 second, etc.
After you've practiced enough and think you're ready to record a run, load the save state, Select File -> Movie Record... (name the file) and select OK. Then do your thing, and when you're done, select File -> Movie stop. An smv file will be created in the Movies folder.
When you are completely satisfied with your run, attach the smv file(s) and send them to either
slfcontest@gmail.com (me) or
Fernin320@gmail.com (Fernin)
When naming the smv file, include your name so that either myself or Fernin will be able to identify you from the sign-up list. Also include the game name.
Example: Game = Blah. Contestant = JoeSchmo
The file would be named JoeSchmo_Blah.smv
Make the subject of the mail: "SNES challenge 2011: Round x" or something along those lines. It might also be helpful to include your name, even though it should already be on the smv files.
Rules:
No cheating will be tolerated at all. This means no save states, slowdown, turbo, etc. Hopefully we won't have any problems with this.
And of course, submit your entry on time.
Like always, first place will score 10 points, second 9, third 8, etc., with the lowest amount of points you can get being 2. Submit anything, and you're guaranteed at least 2 points. Remember, everyone gets to drop their lowest score.
