http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4932744/Police-stuck-over-supermarket-free-for-all
tl;dr: A New Zealand supermarket was set up to be completely automated (including the doors) and wasn't programmed to acknowledge Good Friday as a holiday. Once someone tried to ring up alcohol, which required an employee to verify ID, it dawned on people they could get whatever they pleased without anyone but themselves to hold back.
"Mr Laybourn said it would be difficult to prove criminal intent as the shoppers were walking around the supermarket, in some cases with trolleys, and never intended to "take" anything.
"They could be charged with theft by conversion but then the prosecution would have to establish that when they walked out the door they had no intention to pay for it and then the person could still argue they were still getting around to pay for it.""

It's all part of the plan. This is how they lull us into a false sense of security. They perform crazy antics (the 23M dollar pricetag on an Amazon/B&N book), then they give us stuff for free.

I always like the self checkout line that has an employee there to help you ( and make sure you don't just run off without paying of course), kind of defeats the whole idea behind self checkout doesn't it?

This is the way so-called "extreme couponing" works too. You either have to go through a self-scan register or have a mentally retarded cashier.
Like, say Pepsi is $1 for a 2 liter bottle and there's a manufacturer's coupon that says "Save $1 When You Buy Four 2 Liter Bottles."
The intent is that you can use ONE coupon per FOUR bottles. However, the registers aren't set up to limit coupons. So if you have four coupons, you can get four 2 liters for 20 cents. But no competent cashier will let you get away with that.

It's called stealing, just because you can get away with it because of poor wording on the fine print or moronic clerks doesn't make it any better. Is shoplifting extreme commodities collection?
Not a personal jab mind you, more of an opinion.

Wow! Amazing technology. That kind of technology would really help us in disciplining ourselves.
No offense but I hope it could detect obese people so that they would be forced to buy healthy foods. Lol. Just a suggestion .
By the way if anyone out there who would like to know how to get free groceries through coupons just visit my site at http://freegroceries-usa.com/.

Dude... What, the fuck.
All this is one of those pages where it's all "OMG get free shit! all you have to do is complete this offer"
EDIT: Not that that's not obvious or anything...

I'll be impressed with the carriages themselves scan and identify the items in them, then bill a credit card when you walk out the door. No line, no wait. Just walk in, walk out.
