2) Mario and Princess (I play Princess primarily on the 2 worlds I opted for, 5 and 7. I could probably give you a world by world layout of who I pick, where, and why).

3) No. Time is still an issue this summer, at least until I smoothly get into mid July.

What will likely happen is I will say "Okay, you have World X, and these two characters to choose from". I'd rather just limit you to two right now.

Since you're 98% likely to be on the team that discusses who plays what, though, I'd say you'll probably end up with whatever you want.

1- Expert, though I haven't played the game in forever. But unless you decide you want to start on World 7, I'll have enough time to practice anything I end up having to do.

2- Mario (serious) and Luigi (screwing around)

3- I don't mind being a backup. It's not like it's really hard anyway, we're starting from save states.

1 - Expert, though I also haven't played it in a while. With some practice I would do well at any level. I use to beat the game all the time as a kid.

2 - Peach and Toad, probably.

3 - I could be a backup, though I would want to be low on the list. Not sure if I'm going to have a ton of time.

1) Beginner (I am not really good at this game, because I never really played it)
2) Luigi and Peach, because of their jumping abilities. However, I will only really use Luigi.

1) How would you describe your skill at the game? Beginner means you can maybe clear the first 2 worlds. Moderate means about halfway in, maybe you can beat it with warps on a good day. Expert means you can beat the game without much trouble.

Probably Moderate. I haven't played in a long time though.

2) Pick two characters you would like to "claim". Those are the two you will be asked to use when we split worlds if we do.

Mario/Luigi

3) Would you like to be a backup? To become one, not only must you be ready to play on ANYONE'S level with ANY character, but you must be able to beat the game consistently. If you're able to do this, please say so, I'll sign you up for it. You'll still probably be assigned a normal level as well.

VirtuaNES is the official emulator of Sydlexia.com, mostly due to its recording abilities. So any time NES emulation is involved, assume VirtuaNES unless stated otherwise.

Does anyone use certain characters for specific worlds?

I'm a hardcore Mario player with about 2-3 exceptions.

World 2: Desert
Toad, all the way to the end. He's the fastest digger.

World 5: Underground Waterfalls
Princess, for her floating ability

World 7: Wart's World
Princess, she just seems better at it.

I'm basically Mario in EVERY level aside from those.

Hmm... I'd answer for myself as an Expert with either Peach or Toad. And I could be a backup if it's needed.

I tried to accommodate everyone's character request, but I couldn't do it.

Read carefully, the plan of attack follows!
This has the capacity to be a huge clusterfuck, and I want to keep things moving along smoothly.

Getting Started - If you're assigned World 1, then you play through World 1 as your assigned character only. Once you clear it, save the state and send it to me. I will take the Save State with the most lives, and that's the one that will be sent off to the next round of people. You have 5 days to submit a run. If you fail to submit, and do not have a good excuse, your run will be handed to the backup for that level. If the backup fails, either myself, Fernin, Not Sure, or someone else I designate will get it done.

Keeping moving - Once I sent out the save state for World 2, they have 5 days. Use the states Not Sure made to practice, but do NOT use them to make your run. Meanwhile, the people from the previous world have 5 days to upload their finished videos to the SydlexiaCollab Youtube channel (PM me or ask around if you want to know the password, but do not post it on the forums). Once we get to World 3, there are 2 people, who have 2 characters to use each. They may use one, or both, and switch between them as they wish.

Trading - If you don't like your assignment or assigned characters, you can trade. If two people agree to trade spots, just let me know somehow.

Failing - If you can't complete your assigned level for whatever reason, let me know as soon as possible so we can get the backups on it.

Need Help? If you need help recording video, uploading it, or anything else, go ahead and ask here, or in the IRC, or in private messages or e-mail. We're here to help.

PLEASE POST HERE noting you read the guidelines and get what you're supposed to be doing. The 5 day deadline for World 1 will start tomorrow, so you have until Tuesday, June 7th to get 4 Save-States at the start of World 2 to me (well, 3, since I'll have one sent myself). If you have any questions, PLEASE ask!

I have read the guidelines and have already gotten started. I'm terrible but give me a few more practice runs and my only deaths will hopefully be to the little bomb throwing rat lol.

Currently, I'll be back home in about 3-4 days, 5 at most, but I don't think it will be ready for me by the time I get home. Looks like fun though Very Happy

Everyone's run will be uploaded. The save state I pass onto the people doing the next world will be the save state with the most lives.

Also, I should clarify since people are asking me - if you have two characters assigned to you (worlds 3-7), you don't need to record it twice. Those are just your choice of characters. You can use one, or both, to clear your world.
