I can understand that today may not have special significance for everybody, but I expected at least some kind of post.

A toast...

Truth be told, I appreciate the people who secured the freedom that I am blessed to enjoy. However, I rarely think about that during the day on Memorial day or Veterans day. I generally think about the weather change, family, friends, hot dogs and hamburgers.

Memorial thoughts come during the non-holiday weekdays when I read the news.

So, as per usual, I can't conform to tradition, but don't take that as a lack of respect.

I REALLY want to go to a cookout: I want grilled burgers and hotdogs like you wouldn't believe. I offered twelve packs of soda in exchange for entry, but no one has taken me up on it.

You're welcome to come to my house, Zarak. We're having Burgers and Hotdogs! What better way to memorialize our soldiers than with a cookout?

Yeah I'd really like to say I appreciate all the fine folks who risk their lives to keep our country safe. Every time I go somewhere and they ask me to donate money or something to support the troops I do it even if I really can't afford it because you guys do something I never could and you deserve all the support I can give you.

I think this is the point. We can have one or two days and do the things that we take for granted because there are people out there protecting us and our way of life. There's nothing wrong with the family bbq on Memorial Day.

I did however run into Sarah Palin's tour bus across the street from my apartment. That ruined the celebration in a hurry.

Oh, and thanks to everyone in the service and their families.

No, I don't think I will fuck Stummies.

just drive around til you find a BBQ. if they kick you out, go to the next one. eventually you'll find a group of people who will let you crash it. it helps if you go w/someone so you dont get punked

This, although I appreciate it Drew. Very Happy

Fwiw, other than losing my little birdy, had a good weekend. Lovely grilling session on Monday.
