I was listening to a lot of 311 and No Doubt and Gold Finger when I was a teen reading Battletech Novels, whenever I hear ska on the radio I picture giant battling robots.

Just got into some Mustard Plug recently. I find them a nice counterpoint to the more traditional Toasters.

Mustard Plug, Less Than Jake, Voodoo Glow Skulls - all good stuff.
I remember there being a lot of ska kids at a school I went to years ago, and they were actually the better ones to hang around, because they were all so laid-back.

If we aren't allowed to post in threads, then they should be locked or deleted. Necro-posting is a silly rule. And I don't think this should even count as necro-posting since it was still on the first page and now that it's bumped, there's some folks still posting. It's obvious some threads still serve a purpose.

You've got to get The W's. "Fourth from the Last" was a lot better than "Trouble with X". I grew up with these guys playing on the radio all the time. Some of their songs are more Christian oriented, but these are the guys I think about when people say Ska.
For a bit of a rock+brass approach, you should go for Five Iron Frenzy. A bit more humor oriented, but fun and good listening.

I love "Pizza Day" by The Aquabats, "Someday I Suppose" by Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the "We're All Dudes" song by Less Than Jake from the Good Burger film soundtrack. That's the extent of my ska enjoyment.
Unless you count No Doubt.

Sure I'd say No Doubt counts.

I would reccommend checking out The Urge. They were a Ska band out of my home town and they rock. Also check out Streetlight Manifesto. They are pretty cool too.

Anywho For whatever reason I went a Ska rampage this week and grabbed what I could. Save Ferris, Bosstones, Sublime, Goldfinger, Operation Ivy, Reel Big Fish, The Specials, the Beat ect (Fishbone is too weird for me) |
Fishbone fucking rule, seriously. Listen to Truth and Soul, it's not that weird.
