For those who don't know, I've had a pair of pet cockatiels, Emmitt and Tornat, for about 15 years now. Came home from a memorial day party to find that Tornat died. Its not the same as a person I know, but they're still my babies and it still hurts like hell. I'm not sure quite how to react or what I'm going to need for the next few days, but if I don't post/way way overpost, that'll probably be why.
My poor little birdie.

I'm sorry for your loss.
When I saw this, I thought maybe "birds" was a euphemism for "cadets". Glad to see it's not.

Wow, I'm really sorry... pets are hard to lose, and so often it comes without warning. I hope the other continues to be healthy and happy for a long time to come.

Sorry, SoldierHawk. Not trying to hijack this thread, but one of my dogs is getting pretty old - so I figure I'll share this feeling pretty soon.
It's so easy to take pets for granted.

Pets are like little people with whom it's only slightly less sad when they die. We lost our parrotlett a little while back and it was a real bummer. Sorry for your loss SH

I never liked birds, but I know how much they can mean to people. My dad and brother had a pair of 30 year old macaws they got from a rescue. The previous owner treated them horribly.
One of them just couldn't make it any longer and was put down last year. It was a huge blow to my dad. Make sure you keep the other one loved so it doesn't get lonely : (

I'm not much of a pet person in general... 4 dogs and cats can get a bit wearing. That doesn't soften this blow, however. You have my condolences, Hawk!
