Michael Bay has been announced as the director for Disney's Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie, releasing in 2009. It will also be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

If they're going to put Michael Bay on it, then they might as well change the name of the movie to Prince of Persia: Death of the Franchise.

Oddly enough, I was quoted earlier today saying: "What's wrong with Disney? I'd kill to make a Disney movie... A real Disney movie, not those fake ones."

It was in regards to "Return to Oz". Shocked

It could make a neat film, doesn't mean it will. But it could.

DarkMaze tried to secure the movie rights to Bade Dudes at one point, but iirc the language barrier prevented him from making any headway.

Some kids shot a super low budget feature length River City Ransom movie. To a avoid a lawsuit, they didn't call it that though. It was OK... I guess.

I'd kill to make a video game movie, especially Bad Dudes, Revolution X, Streets of Rage, Rampage, Metal Slug, or RCR.

That, or a Sydlexia.com movie filled with video game and movie refs.

Yeah, but to do that we'd need actors and guys who knew their way around production equipment. Rolling Eyes

I'm a credited producer, if that helps.

I took all the courses at my local Public Access station, and am qualified on all of the equipment.

Though, that was back in high school.

And, I remember using a Video Toaster on a Amiga 4000. Razz

I still may give the Bad Dudes thing another shot some time.

But it'd be pretty feasible to make a "Streets of Double Dudes Ransom"-type movie incorporating all the beat-em-up VG cliches and conventions, but without using the copyrighted characters.

Well, we're screwed.

Anyway, I completely failed to see that Bay was reuniting with Bruckheimer. That gets a giant resounding: YES!!! from me.

Michael Bay directing the film is fine with me. After all, he directed Armageddon, and that f***ing ruled.

No, the problem is the "Disney" part. Okay, so they made Pirates of the Carribean, but that was an original work.

The last thing we need is Disney making a video game movie. Cripes, that would suck.

I said that once with: "Disney AND David Lynch!? How can we go wrong!?" The answer: You can't.

Umm, making a movie in space is either

1. Really Expensive
2. Really Cheap looking

Plus, even such trash writing as final fighter has a bit more to bite into movie wise than gradius, which has effectively one character that you never see ever. Watching a spaceship fly through space shooting moai heads for an hour and a half is extremely boring.

The Last Starfighter is probably the closest thing you'll ever get to a Gradius movie.
