On the front page of the site....

I'm not offended in anyway because I know what the article is about, but everytime I come here on a public computer or at work, I have to make sure no one is looking over my shoulder and thinking I'm on some Neo-Nazi website.

So along those lines, has anyone got themselves into a very awkward situation when a boss or someone comes up and sees something on your computer that came be taken waaaay out of context? For example, my Boss has come into my office two different times(both during lunch breaks) and I have Syd's donkey punch signature flashing in the background while I'm reading some random thread.

Just wait for the next article. Well, actually, considering there are two reserved spots a bit down, wait for a third article, and the picture will naturally start making its way into oblivion.

What are you doing here at work? Shouldn't you be working or something?

If anyone gives you crap about it anyway, just tell them it's a biography and that a including a picture of Hitler does not in any way imply glorification or endorsement of his ideals or deeds.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Pff, I wish I had a job where I had to worry about my boss seeing me slacking off and cruising the internet...

lol. It's not like I'm on here all day. I eat at my desk and I can surf the internet. As long as I'm not looking at porn and not wasting time when I should be working, there's no problem.

Besides, it's not the people that want to have a conversation about what they saw on my computer that I'm worried about. It's the person that sticks their head into my cubicle to drop something off when I have a spoonful of yogurt going into my mouth and a hardcore donkey puncher sig flashing on my screen.

The easy solution is just not to be online during the day, but that's no fun.

Seriously though, no one has ever had an awkward moment when they're reading CNN in the morning at work, click on the link about some crazy guy that locked his daughter in a basement for 15 years and then have someone walk into your office to see a headline on your computer that says "Child repatedly raped by Father, has 2 children"?

My wife complains about this all the time since my job has many more moments of relief than hers. I'll give you the same response I give to her:

Work smarter, not harder.

Courtesy of Scrooge McDuck. I remember hearing him say that as a child, and of all of the shows I have ever watched in my entire life, it is the message that hit home more than any other.

If you work harder, not smarter, you are making your life less meaningful and more difficult.

So don't bust someone's balls for doing it the right way, instead, figure out how to fix your situation by using your brain.

I've never had the situation at the office with something I was reading online, but I was reading the memoirs of Otto Skorzeny, whose picture quite prominently appears on the dust jacket in full SS uniform and Iron Cross. Nobody said anything, but I got the side-eye a lot.

I remember I was reading some kind of biography of Hitler for a WW2 class I took. There was a huge picture of him on the cover. I could feel the looks I got just by reading that thing in the library.

GP, my wife is the same way. She works in a hospital so she never has any free time, even for lunch so she always gives me grief when I tell her about something funny I read on SL or Reddit or whatever while I was at work.
