I wish I had commented on this earlier, what with the Foo Fighters in a constant battle with Muse over my favorite band supremacy (although Muse has lost some cred due to their Twilight affiliation and subsequent concerts being populated by tweens... I've never been so weirded out at a concert).

With all that said...

The new album fucking wails. It sounds like they took The color and the Shape and There is Nothing Left to Lose and smashed them together. In my opinion, the first single off that record, Rope, is the weakest on the album, and even it's awesome. Walk is sick as hell, and the highlight of the record if you ask me.

For my money, this is their strongest record since There is Nothing Left to Lose, with In Your Honor/Skin and Bones following close behind...

In order from best to worst, I'd say their albums go like so:

1) The color and the Shape
2) There is Nothing Left to Lose
3) Wasting Light
4) In Your Honor/Skin and Bones
5) Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace
6) Foo Fighters
7) One by One

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Interesting selection.

I would put it as:

1. Foo Fighters
2. There is Nothing Left to Lose
3. One by One
4. The color and the Shape
5. In Your Honor
6. Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace

I haven't really listened to the new album so i don't think it would be fair to stick it in. Though based on the first listen of it all, currently i would stick it between In Your Honor and Echoes.

That's what I love about FF. Their music is diverse while maintaining a similar sound across albums. But, since we both picked TINLTL in the number two spot. We shall celebrate with my favorite song off that record:
