Ah, I assumed it was the opposite, and that it was moved to the NWO to keep the discussion from offending anyone.

I was raised an atheist. I do not pray. I do a lot of thinking that might be considered close to praying sometimes.

I pray every night that I retain my sanity for the next day. Not sure if it's working.

As a muslim, I'm supposed to pray five times a day, but I don't. The most I do is say a few prayers before going to bed every once in a while even though I feel I should be doing it more often. The reason we have that is supposedly so that we can always have God in our minds, but I think in modern western society it's just too impractical and I pretty much think of God at least once a day at least anyway. My dad does it and will go out of his way, even to the point of inconveniencing others, to pray at the scheduled times.

I do, and I've been reciting the same order of prayers for some time now. I don't do it every night (sometimes I forget), and I often find myself praying more when I'm going through a tough time, but it goes something like this:

Lord's Prayer
Take care of my mother, father, brother, sister, nephew
Take care of someone else I might know who is getting screwed by life
I usually talk just like it's a conversation, where I ask for some guidance in how to get past whatever garbage I'm dealing with at that particular time.

I was raised (and still consider myself) Episcopal, but none of the prayers I say (cept the Lord's Prayer) are really official. Sort of goes with being Episcopal... we're like "eh, God's groovy, no need for all those rules."

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Every time I start a take care of / watch over / bless x y and z prayer I start feeling guilty about all the other multitudes not in my prayer, so I end up throwing in and everyone else in the world too, unless they really don't deserve it, except that they do because you're all about forgiveness, so I dunno do what you think is best... Confused

Clever.

And I moved it because I felt people could discuss things fairly civilly in general discussion. I think here it has a greater chance of being seen.

I sometimes pray, and I find it often when I'm down in a hole or in need of something.

I feel guilty often that, thats when I decide to pray, and then I correct myself and try to pray more.

I eventually fall off, and then the cycle starts again.

After seeing and reading this though, I will be saying my Prayers tonight, which basicly consist of thanking God for the things I have, protecting those who I love, and asking for guidance/help with whatever I'm dealing with.

That's another reason why I think I stopped praying, because it almost felt like I was using faith as a crutch in times where I was down, and it shouldn't be that. I don't know if I ever really prayed for the right reasons, which is pretty sad.

I try to do at least one thing I'm thankful for for every thing I ask for. It's just my kinda unspoken agreement.

I was baptized Catholic, never attended church, and only prayed when I was little and living with my Grandparents. I used to know all the stories from the bible when I was like 2 or 3. They recorded it on a cassette tape and play it for me everytime I see them.

I don't believe in a particular person creating the universe but I do believe /something/ started it, and for that I'm grateful.

I was raised and still am Mormon. I do pray still, actually more than I used to as a child. I may not be the best on other aspects of my spirituality, but I like to pray. Even if God isn't hearing, it's kinda of therapeutic for me to talk aloud about my thoughts.

That makes two of us Very Happy

I've actually been starting to seriously pray daily.

My grandfather was a Bishop, but I was never formally inducted. I'm sure they've got me on a baptismal for the dead database somewhere.

I was raised without any sort of religion in my life whatsoever. I've never been baptized, never attended church even once in my life, and have only a passing understanding of Christianity. That said, I don't really feel anything is missing in my life and I've never been prompted to seek out much in the way of religion. If I had to identify myself as anything, I might admit to being somewhat Buddhist, actually.

I remember being totally baffled as a kid when I was helping one of my friends move, and when we sat down for dinner, suddenly we were all grabbing hands and praying. I had no clue what to do. :\
