Comes the slasher film The Tripper. The premise? A serial killer dressed as Ronald Reagan stalks and kills stoners who have gathered in the woods of California for a music festival.

The trailer: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2017923543

Hell, I'm sold. Reagan + dead hippies = awesomeness,

When I read the subject, I expected to open this thread and see a picture of a steaming pile of crap.

Well, it's his first feature film as a director, and the only thing he's directed besides an episode of his sister's show and a 2002 short called "Selling Air", so there's really no basis for comparison. There are plenty of people who are good behind the camera, but try your patience onscreen. Tarantino comes to mind.

I believe he came or will come here with this film. I remember seeing a flyer for it and said: "Dewey made a movie? Fuck that."

Pretty much I've only liked him in three films:
8 Legged Freaks
Ready 2 Rumble
Riding the Bullet

Faith in his filmmaking skills I have not.

But, Bobcat Goldthwait has surprised me, so maybe... nah.

The cast is looking pretty solid... Jason Mewes, Thomas Jane, and Paul Reuben are all in it.

And Arquette's had some good bit parts in movies... 3000 Miles To Graceland, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Airheads come to mind.

Hey, the movie was about clueless metalheads and yeah, he DID nail it.

I like the part where he escapes from the building , realizes he didn't want to escape, and starts begging them to let him back in.

Ah, Graceland. One of my favorite guilty pleasures. But, out of all the Elvis...es, I think Dewey was my least favorite.
1. Snake Plissken
2. Christian Slater
3. Chopper
4. Eliot Ness
5. Dewey
Yep, least favorite.

Buffy... I guess he was good in that. I just watched it about a month ago after reading the amazing script. I remember not not liking him.

Airheads... Yeah. He was alright. Off topic, there needed to be more Egon in that film.

No need to kill the hippies to get rid of them, just play some death metal:

Watched this OnDemand tonight. It was pretty good, but it has its shortcomings. Reagan was a very quotable president, known for his outstanding oratory skills. Evil Reagan has maybe six lines in the movie, despite having significant screentime. Freddy wasn't very funny in the first NOES movie, so maybe they'll fix this when and if they make some sequels.

Other than that, it was entertaining. Some good gore, some good nudity. Unfortunately, there was also some penis, which is totally weak. The movie has a half-assed message about how Reagan's budget cuts to the mental healthcare system were bad, but mostly it's just Evil Reagan killing a bunch of unlikable hippies who are too stupid, too wussy, and too stoned to fight back. He kills some rednecks and some girl's gun-wielding ex-boyfriend too, just for good measure.

I don't think David Arquette accomplished what he wanted with this film. He strikes me as the sort of guy who likes the drugs, but the film comes off as very anti-drug. 90% of the characters don't even ATTEMPT to fight back because they're too fucked up on nitrous, cocaine, ectasy, weed, or acid, and you can't help but feel like they kinda deserve it.

Kill them when they're whacked out on drugs...yeah, why didn't I ever think of that?
