Please shut up now Donald Trump, and the fact that you've said:

"I have accomplished something nobody else has accomplished."

"I want to look at it, but I hope it’s true," he added. "He should have done it a long time ago. I am really honored to have played such a big role in hopefully getting rid of this issue."

That makes me want to punch you in your face.

I can't believe this really gained so much ground. I'd like to think that we have bigger things to worry about in this country.

Still, a scandal -even the illusion of one- is always going to be juicy.

Again, I wonder what issues this is really supposed to be a distraction from.

He should have just released years ago and shut people up then. It's not like it has his dick on it or anything.

I mean, yes, it's completely pathetic and borderline racist that his birth certificate became such an issue. But they could have nipped this in the bud.

I think it worked out pretty good for him.

Trump is one of the front runners for the Rep. in the upcoming election, and this took some wind out of his sails.

But yeah, this whole thing is pretty damn crazy.

It doesn't matter anyway. The Tea Party is going to split the vote and Obama'll get his second four year term. Especially if they're running morons like Trump and Romney, it's obvious the 'mainstream' Republicans (eg the ones that don't call themselves Tea Party members) don't care, and I'm sure whatever kook the TP puts up gets enough crazy votes to keep things destabilized. I guess Nader's not running anymore, and that's why they need someone else.

About the whole birth certificate deal, who cares? I'm tired of it, and honestly, a foreigner could probably run things better, especially if they haven't grown up in the toxic hotbed of political favoritism and corporate cronyism in Washington.

I think it would be cool if Trump was president. If there was ever a nuclear war, he could say "You're fired!" as he hit the button.

^This.

And sadly, even though he's brought the certificate forward, there will be plenty who claim it's a forgery.

Even if you were a woman, I'd punch you in the face for calling me that if you were in front of me. If that's not their title, why are they referred to as such? Why not just call them the Education Fuhrer or the Finance Reform Khan or the Caesar of Mortgages?

Also, I realized that this was all, of course, done to distract the public from the hit parade of lies that'll be spilling out of Ben Bernanke's mouth in approximately an hour and some change minutes.

Trump doesn't want to be president. He just wants people to watch The Apprentice.

Fun Fact: There are legitimate questions as to whether McCain, whom I love, was eligible to be president. He was born in the Canal Zone.

You and veterans for some reason, even though he shafts the latter on a regular basis. I don't get the appeal myself, but maybe that's because I live in the state he's busy mismanaging. I was aware of the Canal Zone thing. Ultimately, it doesn't matter.

I'm a fan of McCain too.

And by law, children of military members born outside the US while they're on duty are natural born citizens. Not to mention the Canal Zone was US territory at the time anyways.

Regardless, the whole birth certificate thing was retarded. You can't even get a friggin driver's license without that thing. And just because you're President doesn't mean all your private records become public.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/citizen.asp

Long story short: McCain was born in 1936. In 1937, Congress passed a law declaring that anyone born in the Canal Zone after February 26, 1904 with at least one U.S. citizen as a parent was by definition a U.S. citizen.

Furthermore, until 1937, the Canal Zone was not considered part of the United States. Between 1901 and 1905, the court system ruled several times that unincorporated territories were not a proper part of the United States. As such an unincorporated territory, children born into the Canal Zone to U.S. citizens were U.S. nationals but not U.S. citizens.

So, McCain was not a U.S. citizen when he was born, but a year later, he was retroactively declared to have been a citizen since birth. This raises interesting legal questions about what constitutes natural born citizenship and whether or not it can be conferred upon someone at a later time.

Realistically speaking though, it's irrelevant. Our founding fathers certainly never meant to deny citizenship to the children of our military personnel or foreign diplomats. And no court would ever have ruled against McCain, had he been elected president and had the issue been pursued. Several lawsuits were filed during the 2008 election by various crackpots to keep McCain off the ballot, and they were all thrown out.

I don't think people bring this point up enough: what did the original founders intend for this sort of situation? Although most of the founders also owned slaves, so I can't say it's a very good point...

I'm just saying, every argument has it's good and bad points. I know pretty much everyone else knows this, I just felt it would be biased to leave that particular bit out.
