I've already managed to quit smoking (well, mostly; the wife got an urge to start smoking cloves, so I have two or three a day), but I'm having trouble doing something else: not looking at info on celebs online. I keep trying to remind myself that these people have no day-to-day bearing on my life and shouldn't be interesting; I also snap a rubber band on my wrist every time I break down. Is anyone else working on getting themselves out of negative habits/patterns, and if so, any advice?

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

only negative habit is my lack of exercise. but im managing to start running again & lifting weights.

also, reading. or lack thereof. i used to read like crazy, but i been playing too many video games lately, so i put reading on the backburner.

drinking, but my DUI definitely took care of that.

my barber was telling me that he quit smoking by doing this: every time he had a craving, he would get a cigarette, smell it, and then break it.

he went thru 3 packs and that was that.

Um well what my mother did was use one of that fashionable e-cigarettes. The kind that use oil and she used less and less precentage of nicotine until she weened herself down. Like the patch I suppose. However she nearly died from pneumonia before which i think was her smoking rock bottom and it helped.

Something i hear helps is adding together how much you spend on cigarettes a year since that puts it in perspective.

And for another random useless wrestling fact:

Ultimate Warrior did something similar. Instead of eating dessert, he would crumble up a cookie and smell it, and said it gave him the same effect.

Eating snacks, but fucked if I'm going to stop that. I may die at thirty from malnutrition or obesity, but I will have died with potato chips in my mouth and a smile on my face.

I quit e ciggs pretty fast, they're fucking shoddy merchandise, shit breaks or is broken out of the packaging and good luck returning them, packaging says refer to manufacturer for returns and website of manufacturer says they only honor direct sales made through them and to contact the re seller. Store I bought it from points to the contact manufacturer for returns sticker and tells me to basically fuck off. Rolling Eyes

But yeah quitting is great now that I'm over it, I can run up and down stairs without feeling like I'm going to die, and I have piles of extra money, so I can finally stop being so cheap and poor and buy some fucking high priced Wii games! Razz

Yeah e-ciggs are pretty much mostly crap, there are forums to help find the right brand to purchase. NEVER buy from a mall.
