Am I the only one who thought the "Super Mario Brothers" film was fucking awesome?

No, you're not. I don't think it was "f'in awesome", but I thought it was a decent sci-fi movie (and hella fun today). I've met people who thought it was 'f'en A' though.
Why does riding on a mattress in a frozen air vent sound so appealing right now?

I'll be honest; on first watch, (at the age of eight) I fucking hated it. They raped a great series. Triple-penetration style.
At the age of thirteen, I watched it again, just to see if it was as horrible as I remembered. Loved it. Instead of concentrating on its similarities or lack thereof to the video game series, I evaluated it as an action comedy, in which capacity the movie was excellent.
Seriously, is there anything funnier than a fat, balding plumber going clubbing and trying to pick up an overweight, nasty black woman wearing a "whore's uniform" (thank you, Dave Chapelle) and biting her breasts every so often?
And how cool was "de-evolution"? Or Bowser turning a prominent politician into a monkey?
And how great were Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and the actress playing the princess?
I think the movie suffered because too many fanboy kids (like myself) expected to see a direct translation of the game to the screen, while older audiences avoided it on general principle.

She has a name and it is "That Chick From Broken Arrow" or was it "That Chick From That Other Christian Slater Movie Pump Up The Volume"... No wait, it was "The Punisher's Wife"! That's it.
For real, that's Samantha Mathis. If she's not in a good movie real soon, I'm going make Christian Slater make another "Alone in the Dark" film.

I would give my left eye for some of those Koopa propaganda posters from the film, particularly the one with him holding the chainsaw that said "Koopa: Environmentalist"

First off, to those that think that Michael Bay is a terrible directer, remember that he directed Armageddon. And Armageddon kicked ass.
Second off, the Mario movie was awesome. If you look close enough, there is a LOT of stuff that came from the source materal. You just have to look hard.
Third off, Frank Weller not providing Megatron's voice isn't the end of the world. I'm looking at you, G1 fanboys.
That's all I have to say for now.

I did... except I gave it to the elephant. It's name was Babar.

#1 Quote of the year... AMAZING! Babar... ahhh the memories! Finally a cartoon that was broadcast in both English and French... apparently in Spanish too (funny the person who posted this bothers to say it's the Spanish intro, since it only contains the words "Papa" and "Arthur", as well as some giggling... none are really translatable...)
I think I teared up a little.

More female frog-eaters who don't shave their armpits and bathe once every couple of weeks?
No thanks.
Neat fact-
Did you know that "Armageddon" was a pioneer in the "chick flick action film" genre? The only good thing about that disaster was Steve Buscemi, who makes every movie he's in several times better.
Alas, even Mr. Pink wasn't enough to save that trainwreck...

I believe what Tish meant to say was this:
"This world needs more hot women in French maid outfits."
It makes more sense.

You read my mind!
p.s. French Canadian women shave their armpits, shower daily, and for the most part don't eat frogs... but frog does taste like chicken.

New episodes or reruns?
FUN FACT: Babar dates back to a French Novel written in 1931...
FUN FACT #2: "Babar and Father Christmas" is a wicked movie!
FUN FACT #3: Here's the cover to the first book (1931)

Speaking of French cartoons, it's high time we got a Tintin movie.

Armageddon was kinda silly, but it was entertaining enough.
But the only truly good Michael Bay film was The Rock.

I liked the first Bad Boys movie, but it's not a must-watch movie. The Island had some good sequences, but the plot was Sci-Fi 101.

I'm a huge fan of Armageddon. There's about 2,000,000 scientific inaccuracies, but it's what I want a 2 and a half hour plus summer blockbuster to deliver. Hits every emotion, genre, and expectation.

It is, isn't it? It really does feel like a "great" movie. Like Tony or Ridley Scott might make... But, I'd argue that his other movies are good too - just maybe not as acceptable as "The Rock".

Dude, "The Island" surprised me. I heard it was PG-13 and expected the action to be weak. How wrong I was.

As a low budget action movie, I really really look up to "Bad Boys". Considering the pressures Bay had, I'm surprised it turned out the way it did. But maybe it is a film that I really like because I'm a film maker who aspires to be able to take a minimal budget like that film and make it look like twice the money.
And, yeah, "The Island" script was pretty basic... But once again, I totally went for the action and Obi-Wan.
