I got inspired by Not Sure raping the game, and while it took me about 3 hours longer than him and I had to try and fight the last boss like 10 fucking times, I am proud to say that I just beat Ninja Gaiden on my Nes. No emulation no save states no game genie.

I'm telling ya guys, map the d pad to the left side of the controller and the a/b buttons to the right side and hold it like a giant controller. It's effective and entertaining to anyone who may walk in on you. I beat JSMB2 that way! with lots of save states

I think I'm out of well-crafted compliments to give you, Not Sure, so just take this grunt of approval.

I am really impressed that you had the patience to do this ten times - also that you only needed 10 times. When I did it on emulator, I probably tried more like 50 times before I finally made that fucker my bitch. Congrats!

Thank you, I got so fucking close to quitting, but I couldn't stand the thought of ending up trying again in another couple of months. The hardest part was definitely the second form of the boss, going in there with like half health when I couldn't beat him with full health is just a pain in the ass. Luckily I beat the 3rd form on my first try, because i think I may have gone insane if I had to play the last 3 levels again.

My God. I can't tell you how many times I planned, imagined and dreamed of this exact run when I was eight to twelve years old. I knew every enemy and jump by heart, and knew exactly how it SHOULD go, but I've never been able to execute it like this. (I've had moments, especially in the first stages, but nothing like this.)
Well done as always, sir.

I've beaten it before.
For me, the trick is to be "on time". Every enemy appears at a very specific time when you cross it's point in the level. Don't fall behind the "schedule" and you'll be ok. If you're forced to stop for any reason make sure you're well out of the next respawning point to get some momentum going.
Level 6 is just very, very hard. As you through it think of what weapon you need where and when. Keep advancing taking out enemies as you go and getting specific weapons the game has as you go along.
It's hard, but do-able, to get and keep the Jump Slash to the Final Boss. From there it should be pretty easy to take him out, but he won't go quietly or without a fight.

I don't think the levels themselves are nearly as difficult as some people make them out to be, they are on the other side quite easy for the most part in my opinion. You just have to keep up the pace as Ghandi says. However, the second form of the final boss is the single spot that kills it for me - and then sends you back to 6-1. He has just such a ridiculous pattern, and the game is not even nice enough to refill your energy when you get there again, which just makes it all really annoying and not really worth it imo.

I beat this game a long time ago, but it was so long ago I honestly don't remember it that well.

I only played this and did the first level, it was easy...
Unless it becomes ridiculously hard later, this doesn't look too bad. The jumps are kind of annoying though.
