Final Fantasy VI will be on the European Wii Virtual Console on Friday, March 18. It will be the North American SNES version, which was titled Final Fantasy III when first released. While it is the sixth game in the main Final Fantasy series, only the first Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy IV, then titled Final Fantasy II, had been released in North America at the time. Later Final Fantasy releases would give back the game's original title.

Final Fantasy VI will cost 900 Wii points when it becomes available. There is no word on a North American Virtual Console release.

900 points, what the fuck? Is it considered an import title for that region? In any case, VC prices are too fucking high. NES games should be like $3, SNES should be $6.

900 points? Jeebus they keep finding new ways to fuck up the VC. But oh we should be greatful because Iwata seems to have all but forgotten about the VC and he's gracing us with a classic game and in return for this we should accept this higher price.

Fuck you Nintendo. The haters are getting more and more right about you every day.

Whoever has been put in charge of this department needs to be slapped across the face with a large cod and a penis repeatedly and interchangeably.

Agreed, the prices are pretty high.

I only get the ones that I absolutely have to have.

I agree too!

Also, for purchasing Wii points with a credit card, you should be able to purchase them in multiples of 500 or 200. Something around those lines.

Uhh...$9 isn't all too bad in my opinion. Go check ebay for a used cartridge that might work. I'd gladly pay $20 for a digital copy of FF6.

And now Chrono Trigger is available on the VC...in Japan.

I wish they'd just port FF6 to DS already. I really really want to love this game like everyone else, but I know the only way I'll ever get through it is if it's on DS.

You know that you can get it for GBA right? If you have either a DS or a DS Lite you should be able to play it (I played through FFV for the first time that way).

how many carts have you found that don't work? i own close to 70 different carts and only one has not worked.

not that i think 9 bucks is a bad price for an awesome game. I just find it hard to believe that a cart has that high of a chance of not working. out of 10 games bought on ebay for SNES in the past month, 9 worked so far. i haven't tested super metroid yet but I have no doubt it will work.

I think I may have come across 2 to 3 carts that did not work. When you check the contacts they are usually eroded. One was a N64 game and a piece on the circuitboard had literally exploded. I don't think the prices are outrageous, especially considering what they did and do go for. It's being used to paying a certain amount for SNES games and then being charged just a little bit more that's getting people riled up.

Well, since FF6 was never released in Europe back in the day, it's technically an import, justifying the increased price.

I guess. I still think they charge too much for NES and SNES games. Especially when the alternative homebrew and emulation is so easy to do.

Oh no doubt! But when the production costs are near zero, this is nothing but profit regardless of price.

It wasn't. Neither was Chrono Trigger, actually. We got Terranigma instead.

According to an ESRB leak, Final Fantasy VI is set to release on two digital services. Not only has it been announced for the North American Wii's Virtual Console, but it also will be appearing on the PlayStation Network. This classic was originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1994, while the PlayStation version originally released as a part of the Final Fantasy Anthology with Final Fantasy V.

Second, Chrono Trigger, the 1995 classic, was also leaked for release on the PlayStation Network. This version originally appeared as a part of Final Fantasy Chronicles back in 2001. No date has been officially announced for either Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI.

That's fucking bullshit. Those assholes at Sony have no business putting Chrono Trigger (or FF6) on the PSN and they know it.

I would normally agree but i accidentally bought a NTSC Final Fantasy Collection for PS1 which contained FFIV and Chrono Trigger.

I guess they own the rights to it or something.

Who cares if it's on PSN? They were available for Playstation, and are now available on PSN in the PSOne Classic section. Are people worried that all Playstation 3 owners are mongoloids that don't deserve to play games that you hold dear to your heart and you think should only be available on the console it originally appeared on? Gimme a break. Go ahead and be mad at Squaresoft for putting them on Playstation in the first place almost a decade ago, but don't be mad that they are now available to a different audience who might not have played them before.

The DS version of Chrono Trigger is the version to play in any case.

If PS3 owners want those games, buy a DS or a Wii.

They don't have to, they can play them on PS3. That was my point.
