Believe it or not, they did... sort of.

There was an obscure but half-decent DOS version released in 1991. As most other home conversions of the day, it only supported two players: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/simpsons-arcade-game/screenshots

There was also a TERRIBLE C64 version released the same year:

The gameplay in the above video is indeed shittastic, but that opening sequence was pretty close to the source material. (well at least as close as it could be on the C64)

As a Simpsons Junkie I approve of the opening, despite the assenss of the actual game...
