According today's GameFAQs poll, roughly 33% of their site visitors have never played a single Contra game.

Well, Super C is still a Contra game, so you don't fall within that 33%

Yeah. Damn fun, but damn hard. Harder than the original. I need to find the arcade version.

I seem to recall the difficulty of Super C being a point of contention on the Top 100 NES List:

DarkMaze and I thought it was harder than the original, Valdronius thought it was easier.

Contra 3 will always be my favorite.
Playing it (Contra 1) on the 360 was fun, aside from trying to get the achievement of "Beat it with someone else". Half of the people don't know how to play, while the other half has an extremely bad connection and logs out halfway through.

Super C was easier. At least, I found top-down to be much more user friendly than the 'over-the-shoulder' view.

Actually I find Hard Corps to be the easiest. It's the most predictable, as nothing changes on each playthrough. If you pick the robot and use the electromagnetic yoyo thing, you can destroy every boss in seconds, and you can tear through the regular levels with ease with his beam weapon.
I've beaten that game without dying once on the hardest ending, to put it frankly. I saved literally every bomb in the game that I picked up for the last boss fight and killed him without firing a single shot.
Now Alien Wars, that game is dry anal rape without lube. I can't beat level one on hard. Or I can, but I'll have one life left. Also, forget about two player, especially on netplay.

I completely agree. The yo-yo is so over-powered and effective, many bosses don't even have enough time to change into their later forms.

I've never understood if the game was made with the intention of kids feasibly beating it; me and at least ten of my eight-year old friends would play it all the time, and the furthest anyone advanced was the beginning of Stage 4 on Normal difficulty. That was considered a huge accomplishment.
I just can't imagine anyone any little kid beating the swarm of Stage 6 bosses.
Incidentally, this is why my favorite speed run is the following;
http://speeddemosarchive.com/Contra3.html
A human player, without save states, beats the game on Hard mode without losing a single life. I had a siezure when I first saw this.

Yes, this is a fucking paradox alright. Well, I can match the Contra 1 speedrun with no sweat, but this Contra 3 thing is fucking insane!!

I have to get that achievement too, actually. I lost all of my contra dexterity though.

You should join me in a game of Contra one of these days then, JEW.
The only achievement I have yet to get now is the achievement for beating it without continuing, I believe. I have to check again.
Anyways, if you wish to add me, my 360 handle is Delition Hikari. It used to just be Delition, but they (Microsoft) locked my account due to inactivity. I just added Hikari afterwards to make it sound Japanese, so I don't have to deal with people over the mic.
"Why isn't that del...tee...on guy speaking?"
"His name sounds Japanese. Let's not talk to him."
"Okay."
Me: "Yes!"

I saw that, that was pretty sad! The average game people today just suck I guess!
Funny thing is I also saw "have you played FF1" and I'm pretty sure everyone picked yes when they hadn't.

I wish more people would play good games. Completely mediocre games would even be nice, but...no. Too many people playing Madden, Halo, and Grand Theft Auto. That isn't to say that I downright hate those games, but it seems as if those games are the only ones played by people these days. A little diversity would help, such as the games mentioned above (Contra, Zelda, Final Fantasy 1).
I'm positive that a majority of the people that come into work only play those games.

I've found that I've been playing games I never thought I would since I bought the 360, such as Crackdown, etc. But a game like Crackdown doesn't seem to be appreciated....that really is one of the funnest games I've played lately, I wish people viewed it as more then just a "halo 3 beta with crackdown".

I actually thought Crackdown was pretty enjoyable, aside from the single-player mode taking much less than 10 hours. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop isn't as fun when it's one of the few things to do by yourself.
I actually don't have many complaints about the games mentioned above. I mainly hate how many decent games go "under the radar" because everyone is busy cheating in Grand Theft Auto, making an ass out of themselves in a FPS, or something along those lines.
