A top 100 64 list would have to include crap like Quest 64, a game that actually sucks but people defend because it was one of the few RPGs on the system (which totally doesn't excuse it from sucking by the way) to even reach 100. Furthermore classic IPs that usually ends up on lists like this were not always well executed on the 64 (Castlevania 64 anyone?).
Really, what was good? Mario 64 Mario Kart Zelda Ocarina Zelda Majora Goldeneye Perfect Dark Conker's Bad Fur Day Some of the wrestling games and the first Turok, maybe. Oh and Yoshi's Island and Kirby 64 if you're secure in your heterosexuality. Now what's left? A bunch of sports games, stuff that was ported as well as it could be due to system limitations (Tony Hawk comes to mind) and a billion Mario Party Games and Pokemon games. (Hey Bomberman, can you jump in and give your opinion of the 64 Bomberman games, I never played them!)

Mystical Ninja was the best game on the N64.
Maybe there should just be a top 20 games for the N64, it'd be a lot easier to make and still entertaining to read.

I have to say, that maybe it wouldn't be so good. Look at all of the top 20 N64 lists out there. Odds are, it would come down to the Marios, Zeldas, and many other popular titles that everyone's played. What was cool about the 100 lists was that the top 20s were easy to see coming, while the rest of the lists were nice mixes of popular and less well-known games. It's becoming the bane of the whole list fad, where every list for every medium just repeats the same entries each time.
Though, things like this "Other 100 Best Movie Quotes" is an example of a good list. It helped me remember some of my favorites, but also sparked curiosity in other movies I hadn't seen, which I eventually watched directly because of the list:
So if not a top 100 list like the other times, how about a "Top Other..." list. It would spark a nice discussion, rile up some interest, and even perhaps rile up fanboys (which wouldn't be the first time in Syd's case).
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Hey put down the stick, I'm not the one who suggested a N64 top 100!

I like Quest 64, not because it was one of the few RPGs on the system, but because it kinda a different game than I was used to. I still play it from time to time, as it is one of the games I actually own for my 64. Maybe it did suck for you but I think it is a fun game, certainly better than some of the crap that came out on the 64.

For some reason, I want a Top 100 Game Boy/GBC games list. And a top however-many-games-we-can-fit-in-that-won't-leave-us-scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel-for-half-the-list N64 games list.

hmmm... how about top 100 games list? go cross platform and choose the best out there.
that could be real hard actually. maybe if you stopped at 16 bit or 32 bit. or even 64 bit. or just make it top 100 nintendo console games, and choose the best out of all home nintendo consoles.

I contend that there were not 100 great games on the 64 so a list would be impossible. Shit I think the NES and SNES ones scrape the barrel sometimes, I've played a most of those games if not all after reading both lists and some are definitely being remember with rose tinted glasses on.
I don't quite agree with this statement. Although I do think that there is a few games on both lists that are rather uninteresting, there is also a lot of games that are not on there at all and is definitely worth playing. So the "scrapping of the barrel" might be correct for your taste, but for me it seems like they actually had to sacrifice quite a few great games to narrow it down to only 100.

I would love top 100 Nintendo console games! That would be awesome. Also, i guess quite a few of the forumers here could participate in such a project as well. However, both the top 64 N64 games, top Genesis games and top GB/GBC games as have been suggested would be awesome.

I could write a respectable top 100 N64 games list in my sleep. Clearly the rest of you fuckers didn't spend near enough time or money at your local blockbuster.

Welcome to the forums!
This is actually the same way I found the forums, I was making a list of SNES games to buy and googled top snes games and sydlexia was either number 1 or 2 on the list, and then I found the SNES/NES championship threads and I was hooked. I am pretty sure there was around 100 games for the n64, but not 100 worthy enough to be praised.
Feel free to join us in IRC too, as well as the Video Game Olympics.
Well that's just all I can think of at the moment.

I think doing a top 100 genesis/mega drive list would be pretty hard considering there is only like 20 genesis games worth playing.
Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles
Golden Axe 1-3
Streets of Rage 1-3
Quackshot
Shinobi 1-3
Aladdin
Sparkster - perhaps
Columns
Altered Beast
Comix Zone
Phantasy Star
Castle of Illusion
Splatterhouse 2,3
Do you include cross platforms? Earthworm Jim 1-2.
Perhaps the Ecco games? I think they are bit shit.
There is pretty much nothing else apart from those, unless there is some gem i don't know of.

no one ever mentions Gargoyles. or General Chaos. the Toejam & Earl games were great. Shining Force I & II. the sports games were great as well.

Ecco-games
Shining in the Dark
Shining Force 1-2
Rocket Knight Adventures
Landstalker
Beyond Oasis
Alex Kid-games
Kid Chameleon
Mega Turrican
Ristar
Vectorman 1-2
World of Illusion
Crusader of Centy
Gunstar Heroes
Toe Jam & Earl 1&2
Castlevania Bloodlines
Contra: Hard Corps
Mega Man: The Wily Wars
Wonderboy-games
Herzog Zwei
Pulseman
Shadowrun
Strider
Shadow Dancer
Dynamite Heady
Rolo to the Rescue
To name a few games you missed. And then there is multiplats, fighters, shmups and other stuff that I probably don't know. A top 100 might be difficult, but there is definitely more than "about 20" games worth playing on the good old Sega Mega Drive (Genesis).

I said Shinobi 1-3 ^^
I also mentioned Ecco but not on the list. I forgot some of those but some of the ones you listed i don't like e.g. Vectorman is awful and i bought Toejam and Earl on VC and i find it to be a bit dull. Gunstar Heroes and Kid Chameleon are okay.
What i was hinting at was there isn't a large selection of good games, maybe 20 wasn't the best number to pick but i like i said there's problem gems that i haven't played and some of the games listed after i don't even like.
