Only? The town I grew up in only has like 8,000 people. Where I live now is one of the larger cities in Kansas (not counting the Kansas City area) and it only has about 45,000.

Anyways, I only know 3 people who were mugged (attempted). One was at a concert with two buddies. 4 or 5 guys came up in the parking lot after it had cleared out and told them to give up their money or wallets or whatever. He asked if any of them had a gun. They said no. Then he asked if they had a knife. They said no. So then he told them they couldn't have his fucking money but if he thought he was big enough to take it to give it his best shot. Then they just left and the guys didn't say shit.

Another attempted mugging was on a guy I know through a friend. THis guy is full of shit, but he is also a little crazy and is a badass. So its hard to tell how much of this is truth. I don't know how many people he was with or how many people came up to him. But allegedly, they told him to give up the wallet and he told them no, then told them to give him their wallet. I'm not sure what was supposed to have happened after except that he didn't give them his wallet. But again, I'm not sure how credible the story is.

The third was a guy who dated my sister-in-law. I'm not exactly sure exactly what happened because I only heard the story once and wasn't really listening. But I guess he was also in the parking lot of a concert after it had cleared out. I think he was waiting for his friends by himself or some shit. A group of guys came up and told him to give them his money. I guess he tried to run but one guy nailed him before he could get away. They took his money and left him laying there. I don't think they beat the shit out of him or anything like that.

The last one happened in KC. The first two were in smaller towns where a lot of these pseudo-criminal types are really pussies who are just trying to act tough in front of their buddies.

There really wasn't a whole lot of that where I'm from. We did have a guy robbing stores with kitchen knife. I was working at a video store at the time and when I found out who the robber was, I remembered him frequenting the store. I'm kind of surprised anybody took him seriously. He didn't wear a mask or anything. He just came in with his knife and demanded cash from the register. He even robbed restaurants, where I'm guessing they would have had a plethora of equally impressive knives as well as other shit like frying pans or hot grease they could have warded him off with. But they gave the guy all the fucking money. I had all sorts of fun shit behind the counter I could have hit him with, like a hot shrinkwrap sealer. But he never tried that shit in my store.

Most of the criminals where I'm from just steal shit out of parked cars. Every now and then you'll hear about somebody getting stabbed over drugs.
