Yeah, my first thought is that was an active forum member, but it isn't necessarily.
I've mentioned my sister in past articles, and the site has a wiki that mentions it. I am very active on Twitter and have said some controversial things on it as recently as this morning. Anyone who I pissed off could very easily find the information necessary to pull off such a hoax, unfortunately.

This thread is kinda funny in the beginning if you go into it knowing it's a hoax from the get-go. I mean, I thought it was some weird (albeit kinda morbid) joke, and everyone was taking it so very seriously. Then I see all the comments about it being suspect and then Syd showing up and bitching... and then you realize, wait, this wasn't a joke from the get-go, it was someone being very, very cruel.

I kinda wanted to call bullshit from the get go as I checked his FB and saw nothing out of the ordinary and figured that if he HAD taken the time to go online if such a thing had happened, he would say something there first. But then I thought it is Syd and his grief he might have told this community out of reflex or something. In either case I was keeping my mouth shut until confirmation or denial.
