I can sure tell you I'd appreciate even censored nude photos to NOT be floating around without a link and a link explaining that "hey if you click this its going to show you everything but a black bar across her twat"
I frequent this site at work, on government computers.
I'd really rather not go to Captain's Mast or just receive a good Old Fashion Skull Fucking from Uncle Sam in general because shit like that snuck up on me in a thread that isn't in an Unmodded Forum.
If I click that shit in NWO or Fairgrounds, that's my own damn fault. But I shouldn't have any risk of hitting it in the Video Games Forum and Above.

But this isn't even real nudity we're talking about here (assuming I have the right thing in mind), it's a cartoon picture that is frankly tame compared to some stuff born from anime these days. And I'm not talking about hentai or anything, there's a tendency to super-sexify the female characters in artwork or vinyl figures and still have them be "SFW" as it were. I mean, for example,

That's some anime statue of some chick, I don't even know what from and OH MY GOD CENSORED TITTIES AND VAG! About the same level as the Joy pic and guess what? It's on a site called Entertainment Earth that sells everything from preschool toys to this sort of thing and would you block this site from your work computer? Probably not because you're not a fucking pussy. It's not like this is 4chan and we're posting blue waffle all over general, there was one barely risque pic that if your bosses see, well, why are you checking this site at work anyway if you're so damned worried about getting canned for someone else's actions?

Man where have you grown up? If that was in a brick-and-mortar store here and kids were seeing it, the parents would be complaining to the manager and it'd be moved.
I'm not a prude; far from it. I just think there's a time and place for things, and I think Atma should be able to reasonably assume he can browse the general forums without seeing even "censored" nudity.

I think you're arguing on two fronts, here. First, you're saying that if you're not allowed to see that kind of thing at work, you shouldn't be browsing the forums at work, and yet now you're saying it is SFW, meaning you should be able to browse and see that kind of thing at work and not get in trouble.
SFW means just that, that it's okay to be caught browsing it at work. If you co-worker happens by your cubicle and sees you peeking at a site, he's not going to freak or assume you're looking at porn. If anyone I knew saw me browsing sites and looking at that, eyebrows would go up. Am I alone here?

Well like everyone else said already, I think that people browsing the general forums should be able to assume they won't see something that might potentially get them in trouble. I don't even find that offensive at all but I guarantee you there are people that would and stuff like that should be put behind a link with a (possibly NSFW) tag or something just so there are no potential problems. I just don't really want to see someone get in trouble because someone decided posting some half censored nudity was cute.

No, I'm saying that if YOU think it's NSFW, and know the site may have such content, why are you looking at it at all at work if you're so damn worried? I don't think that's NSFW at all as it's completely covered in the essential areas and fucking magazine photo shoots these days show more skin and those are just sitting on racks in the damn grocery store. BTW, if your boss sees you screwing around on the web for any reason, you've already failed and if you have a job like Atma where you're worried about them checking your logs later or whatever, don't fucking go to a site where you know there could be questionable material to explain to your bosses on work hours!

I'm not saying I'm offended by it and I don't think it's that shocking, but what I am saying is that it probably isn't appropriate during work hours. All Atma was saying is he'd like it if instead of actually posting the photo, that it was just linked with a potential NSFW tag next to it. I think that's reasonable.

I think there's a reasonable expectation not to see random sexy pictures in the middle of threads. I mean, it's not like I have a review of Debbie Does Dallas up on the main site (sidenote: B+) or anything.
And getting caught looking at cartoon quasi-porn is worse than getting caught looking at regular quasi-porn.

I actually work at a place that has an official policy about pornography on computers. It is 100% allowed and no one can tell another person that it must be shut off. I couldn't make this shit up if I tried. Whats more amazing is that if an individual were to come and use one of our public computers, even if they were not a member of the organization, they can't be booted for watching porn. They can be booted if they smell, or are disruptive, or if they expose themselves.
I consider myself to be comfortable with nudity and pornography on computers, but that doesn't mean I want to be blindsided by it.
I have no idea what the original example being discussed is, but I can say that an image like the one that BZ posted above should probably be linked with a NSFW tag rather than embedded unless it is in the NWO or AF. Alternatively, if the original title of the thread contained a NSFW that would work too.
This isn't about individuals being prude, wussies, or pathetic. That isn't a fair or reasonable conclusion. This is about respecting others and knowing that sexual image boundaries exist due to workplace, moral, ethical, and timing reasons.
BZ, I know you are smart enough to understand why the figurine would be considered NSFW, and it really does appear that you are blasting people out here out of frustration rather than lack of understanding.

ok so heres my two cents.
1) If the community wants you to folllow simple rules and not post NSFW content whether it be rabbit guts or cartoon porn or 2 girls 1 cup. you should be considerate of your fellow community members and online friends and not prevent them from enjoying the same luxurious forums that we all should be able to enjoy. there is a place for that kind of NSFW embeded material. personally, my work/boss doesnt care what i do. but i wouldnt want a client of mine to be near the computer and me pull up a thread and start reading it and there be a naked picture of nurse joy. it makes for an awkward moment.
2) If your going to whine about why you cant post nudey pics and porn in the general discussion forum when the people who run this board are asking you not to. you are an inconsiderate fucking little prick and need to grow some balls. your crying about the rules like your some spoiled brat who always gets their way with a silver spoon shoved up your ass. dont start drama where drama isnt needed. this should be a place to chill and talk about fun stuff. not a place to come and get into an arguement with some immature prick who is just trolling.
