So I was on GameFAQs earlier looking at upcoming Wii releases. They only list through the end of June, and in that time, there's only one game coming out worth getting:
The Conduit 2, due out in April.
February gave us de Blob 2 and Mario Sports Mix, which aren't really must-buys, but they're fun, and the lack of other options nearly makes them must-buys.
And January gave us Lost In Shadow. And that's it. Four games in 6 months. That's uh, not good. Granted, the 2010 holiday season was a great time for Nintendo fanboys, but this a pretty awful dry spell, especially when Reggie said something ridiculous like the Wii needs to move another 100 million units before they'll consider a nextgen console. Nintendo needs to work harder with developers to get less shovelware on the market and more fun stuff. The future isn't all bad though. We may be getting as many as three quality RPGs from Nintendo this year:
Xenoblade
Skyward Sword
The Last Story
The Last Story has not been announced for localization, but hopefully will be. Nintendo should have worked - and arguably still could - to get Tales of Graces localized for the Wii. The game was a huge hit in Japan and was even offered in a special bundle with a Wii system. A localization of the PS3 version was announced at the beginning of the year.
And Dragon Quest X is going to be on the Wii, whenever the hell it comes out. We don't even know anything about it!
But yeah... we need more Wii games, Nintendo.

Nintendo should have been grinding out the main franchises, from the get go.
How come they have not made a sequel to New Super Mario Bros. Wii?? That game was a breeze to make and fucking printed money.
Also, why not an excellent 2D scrolling Metroid with a shit-load of depth. There just seem to be so many things to do that they aren't doing.
Oh well, at least I get to fuck around with my 3DS at the end of the month.

Do you think this could be due to 3DS anticipation from developers? I think the SDK for the 3DS has already been released, and developers are most likely taking their focus from the Wii to the 3DS.
Also, I would not worry about Nintendo in general, the 3DS is REALLY going to print that damn money for Nintendo.

Absolutely not. One's a handheld, one's a console. Companies have different teams for both.
What's always irritated me is that ever since Pokemon led to a resurgence in handheld gaming, Nintendo has been printing money in the portable market. Developers for Nintendo's handhelds have too. But Nintendo has never once attempted to leverage this against those developers. Companies like Square Enix, Capcom, and Konami release very few console games for Nintendo, but are still allowed to reap the benefits of its handheld market. A more savvy company would play hardball. But Nintendo? Not so much.

Tales of Graces Wii isn't going to happen. The PS3 is the enhanced version of the Wii original. We're lucky we got the PS3 version.
And as for the games you listed, I would only pick up Zelda and Dragon Quest. The rest I haven't even heard of.

I'm aware the PS3 version is the Wii version with extra content. But the systems are two very different markets, and Namco could make money off both.

Frankly, I feel as though they just don't think the effort is really worth it or necessary since they are making such a killing in the hand-held market (they might be re-evaluating that stance a little bit now, but I doubt they are really worried}.
Bring on the Wii 2, I am fucking ready.

That's the problem though. I think Namco hates money. All the Tales games they could've localised. They even had additional english voice work done for the PS3 rerelease of Vesperia, only to change their minds later.

What's funny is that they gave us Tales of Symphonia II on the Wii over Tales of Graces, even though Tales of Graces is the better received game. I might just import Tales of Graces. There was a fan translation project for it, and I'm hoping it wasn't abandoned in the wake of the PS3 announcement. I believe there's a completed translation patch for the DS game Tales of Innocence.
Also, it might be time for Nintendo to start mining "dead" idea for Wii games. They could finally bring Trace Memory 2 to North America. And maybe finally pay Tecmo to localize Fatal Frame IV and fix the bugs in the game.

Yea, Nintendo should really just go balls out for the remainder of the Wii's life.
They might as well make another Metroid Prime game, I could go for another one of those.

I would fucking love a remake/sequel of Actrasier for Wii.
I loved the Mix of Sim/Action.
Or another Shadowrun. I loved that game on SNES too.

As I said before, Nintendo can be very fucking lazy when it comes to taking these opportunities to use some of their franchises that they haven't released anything on Wii yet;
Star Fox (SNES or N64 style arcade shooter)
Pokemon (take Red/Blue and make them a realistic 3 dimensional environment where you actually wander through the grass and enounter Pokemon fight them)
Mother (obvious choice to make a new game, especially with how the SSB games helped their popularity)
Kid Icarus (again, SSB makes it seem like this could be a possibility)
Crystalis (why the fuck not? It would be amazing)
And hell...if Super Paper Mario is going to follow it's action experience style, why not release an actual sequel to Mario RPG?

This is false. It's a completely different kind of fucking game. Yes, it's purty but it lacks the thing that makes most games work. Fun.

It certainly is a completely different kind of fucking game, but that doesn't mean it's not awesome.

Shadowrun sucks. Especially on the genesis. Crystalis isn't nintendo. There is a kid Icarus coming out for the 3ds. The pokemon games are oversaturated on the handhelds as it is.

Also, Mario rpg was a squaresoft game. It just licensed nintendo characters. Paper Mario IS the sequel to it.

I believe Nintendo bought the rights to Crystalis, and made the crappy GBC version themselves.

It was kinda lame. They changed the opening plot, removed the minimum level requirements from the bosses, and made the main plot super linear. Half the fun of that game was exploring, much like the original Zelda.
