Wait, so free speech is restricted to matters of public concern? Since when? Last time I checked, I absolutely have the right to call you a fucking dumbass.

You are 100% correct that you have the right to call anyone anything you like. Perhaps though you should think about when and where you are though.

At a funeral surrounded by people who uphold and defend the law, you are probably safe because even the people who can't stand you won't touch you due to their strict regard for the law.

Take a trip into a crime ridden urban area and retest your theory. You may not make it home.

Free speech is the law, but people's tolerance for those that push the law to the limits is usually pretty low. They will accept it for a short time, and eventually act out if the law isn't fixed to address their perceived pain.

It probably went something like this:

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

It's very much like that episode of South Park where Mr. Garrison and Mr. Slave do increasingly wild things to shock people. Tolerance doesn't mean approval of something, it just means you're willing to put up with it. I don't know how long people will be willing to put up with these schmucks, but if they're attacked, they win. Best to just do our best to ignore them. If the media would help with that instead of sensationalizing them, they'd disappear back to their hole in short order.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

The media loves them though. Also about the distance, they were apparently 1000 feet away, not sure if they could even hear them when the funeral/burial was going on to be honest. I don't see how this doesn't fall into "Fighting Words" category though. Probably because sexuality is not something tested in strict scrutiny. However I'm pretty sure a group of Homosexuals would be quite offended by "GOD HATES FAGS" being chanted and possible driven to further action. This falls under Hate Speech which doesn't belong in the public arena. We talk about racism and intolerance and how bad it is, but we protect it. Doesn't make sense.

I find your talk of calling for the restriction of hate speech quite offensive, hateful even, and move that you be charged with hate speech against haters.

Fucking "hate speech." OOOOOOH WATCH OUT, THE HATE HATE BOOGEYMAN GONNA GETCHA!!! Hatred is a tool given to you by nature/god to be used to further your will, nothing more or less. Denying such emotions is only going to lead to you being dead inside. If you can't hate, you can't love.

I am declaring hate-fueled war upon the popular concept of outlawing hate. Philosophically, it's dangerous and stupid.

There's a difference between hating something, expressing it and being a complete and total asshole though. I hate a lot of things, for example, watching men kiss, and old people drivers but I don't yell obscenities at them or call them names.

Well yes I agree, tact is important too. Cold-blooded hatred is the most effective tool of all.

I personally believe that the Phelps are a psyop meant to enrage the public into going along with curtailing free speech, but that's really immaterial. Whatever their motivation, they're still assholes.

Fucking rabbit... always one hop ahead of me. At least I scrolled down before I posted. On-topic, these guys will get gunned down or car-bombed or poisoned eventually. I only hope that it will be agonizingly slow for them.

Hey man, Vader got shit done.

God, now you got me thinking about Star Wars and how George Lucas basically took a giant shit all over Taoism. Thanks buddy, MORE shit to hate.

The WBC is a group of less than 100 people. There are much larger groups of people who are just as evil or worse in the U.S. I scratch my head sometimes wondering why the media gives them so much attention, because all it does is empower and encourage them. If people would just ignore them they would become irrelevant.

I think the media started giving them the most attention when the church forces those little kids to carry the signs that make fun of "fags". They certainly aren't evil, just very close minded and definitely not worthy of the attention they are getting. They don't have infinite funds, and one day they will just fold up and disappear.
