I don't think anyone here is arguing for more guns. It's not like giving people the freedom to carry firearms around is going to cause this surge in gun sales.

I like that I can own a gun if I want, but I don't see the need for one.

I'm exactly the same way. I don't own or even desire to own a gun that much. I've really enjoyed going to the firing range, but that doesn't mean that just because I'm pro 2nd Amendment, I would ever desire to buy one. Hell, I don't even care for hunting, but I'm not going to bitch at those who do enjoy it.

I own a few guns because I feel the need to, just based on my past experiences. However, I really don't care for them, and rarely go out shooting, only occasionally to keep my accuracy somewhat decent.

There's a large segment of the population though that seems to have some sort of gun fetish. They're obsessed. They even have gun porn(and no, I'm not talking about chicks with guns, these meatheads salivate over pictures of just guns.)

If I still lived in Oklahoma City, I would definitely have a firearm.

Shit, when I was in HVAC school here in Phoenix we had a black guy there from Iowa who was trying to scare us all with stories about the hardcore ghettos of Des Moines. Reminded me of that movie White Boyz.

Half of my family hails from Exira/Kimballton in Iowa, I went there once. Fucking BORING. Although the hotel did have a Royal Rumble pinball machine. OH, and they had a Danish Heritage Museum with a full scale reproduction of a Viking longboat. That was fucking BOSS.

Des Moines isn't scary at all...that guy was full of shit. Oklahoma City on the other hand? Yeah...get yourself a gun. I lived there 5 years and we averaged at least 4 break in's a year.

Did you do the old White Flight two-step?

Because the lack of such is the only way I could see an average four break-ins a year. Shit, I lived in the barrio for my entire childhood and we never got our house broken into once.

ARVADA, Colo. -- Arvada Police are defending the way they handled the arrest of an 11-year-old boy. The Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs from his home for drawing stick figures in school - something his therapist told him to do.

His parents say they understand what he did was inappropriate, but are outraged by the way Arvada Police handled the case. The parents did not want their real names used.

They say "Tim" is being treated for Attention Deficit Disorder and his therapist told him to draw pictures when he got upset, rather than disrupt the class. So that’s what he did.

Last October, he drew stick figures of himself with a gun, pointed at four other stick figures with the words "teacher must die."

The boy drew the pictures to let out angry emotions. Tim, his parents, and his therapist say it was not a threat and that Tim would never hurt anyone.

He felt calmer and was throwing the picture away when the teacher saw it and sent him to the principal's office.

The school was aware that the boy was in treatment, determined he was not a threat, notified his parents and sent him back to class. His mother, "Jane" was shocked when Arvada Police showed up at their home later that night.

She says she told her son to cooperate and tell the truth, but was horrified when they told her they were arresting him and then handcuffed him and hauled him away in a patrol car. His mother says she begged police to let her drive her son to the police department and to let her stay with him through the booking process but they refused.

They put him in a cell, took his mug shot and fingerprinted him. He says he thought he was going to jail and would never be able to go home again.

According to the police report, "Tim" explained he made the drawing to release anger and would never hurt teachers or anyone. At first school officials did not want to press charges, but changed their mind when police called them later that night. A juvenile assessment report shows he's never been in legal trouble before and is at low risk to reoffend.

He's charged with a third degree misdemeanor, interfering with staff and students at an educational facility. The system says it's doing what's in the best interest of the child. But Tim's therapist says handcuffing an 11-year-old and putting him in a cell over something like this is "quite an overreaction" and does much more harm than good.

Arvada Police say because Monday was a holiday, they are not able to get hold of all the personnel and reports to make a response, but will be able to respond Tuesday. Tim is on probation and if he completes that successfully, the criminal charges will be dropped. But his parents say it has cost them thousands of dollars so far.

And if they had known that their son’s cooperation would be used as evidence against him, they would have hired a lawyer at the beginning and exercised his right to remain silent.

so fucking retarded. the bold part is mine, cuz i want to highlight how backwards this is. he was throwing the picture away. so, he was charged for something his teacher & the cops initially started. god, its infuriating

We got a house alarm after 2 years, but most of the break ins were to the garage, had the car stolen 4 times, always recovered though, which was strange. They would usually just steal the stereo and whatever else we had such as bikes. The garage was like a barn in that they were literally two large doors that locked in the middle. The alarm at our church would go off, which my dad had pure balls to go up there at 3 AM with a baseball bat and check it out, luckily he was never met with any threat. But yeah...that part of Oklahoma City was an absolute shit hole.

Wow. The part that really gets me is this: I remember drawing stuff much, MUCH worse than that... Sometimes it's good to live in a country where no one can be bothered to give a fuck Smile

Dude, I lived in Iowa for like three years, it's not tough. The parts all the whitebread office workers referred to as "the ghetto" was not ghetto at all. Confused

It's in Texas. I'm surprised it wasn't legal before.
