I didn't know I could talk to people in town in Zelda II until I read Syd's review on those tip cards.

Luke Plunkett — Japanese artist ag+ has commemorated the 25th anniversary of the release of the original Legend of Zelda in the best possible way: with one of the most amazing pieces of fan art you will ever see.
If Nintendo had a chapel and (bear with me) that chapel had an ornately-painted ceiling, this would surely be that painting, a truly epic piece that includes what must be every major character the entire series has ever seen.
Because the original work is so damn large (1200x6566, 7.2MB), we've broken it up into a gallery of "highlights" above (including a 15-minute video detailing the creation of the piece). To see the entire thing in all its glory, you can download it here for a slightly less weighty version, or from the artist's site linked below for the full thing.
To the first person who can successfully name every character in the piece...you shall have internet fame, if only for a day.

Whoever can fetch me that non-sized down version from that Japanese website I will title the Most Awesome Person!
Also, no emoticon can describe how this makes me feel! This is so awesome!
Also, a Thank You goes to Andrew Man for showing me and all the others on IRC this. I just HAD to post this myself (I also asked for permission to do so)

from gamefaqs:
Pogo Cane : When Scrooge McDuck jumps into the air, hold DOWN and the B
Button to cause Scrooge's cane to be deployed below his falling
form. After Scrooge bounces off the ground and high into the
air, you only need to hold the B Button to maintain the bouncing
of the Pogo Cane as you move. This is useful for killing
enemies, bouncing over spiky areas, and for breaking open
Treasure Chests.

Yea, that Zelda fanart is fucking outrageous.
Sooo good, so much detail, and overall an excellent design and tribute.

Agreed, but I have to say getting that Magic Key was a huge relief, as was the Life and Fire spells.

So, what are your best Zelda-memories? Favorite Zelda-games? Here is my ranking from best to worst:
1. Majora's Mask
2. A Link to the Past
3. Ocarina of Time
4. Twilight Princess
5. Adventures of Link
6. Wind Waker
7. Link's Awakening
8. Minish Cap
9. The Legend of Zelda
10. Oracle of Ages

The original at number 9?! Blasphemy.

Well, I played it after Zelda 2 and aLttP, so it did not have quite the same effect on me as those games. Still a great game though.
Its nice to see that there is a lot of Zelda 2 love here, guess its just mainstream journalists who hate it. I grew up with it, and don't really think it is that hard or complicated. I love how you had a hole world to explore, with cities, people to talk to, girls to sleep with (both teens and milfs), and then the battle system is still probably my favorite battle system in any Zelda-game, as it is just so precise, and made for some very tough but interesting fights. Lets hope they make a New Adventures of Link Wii soon, shall we?

As someone who's beaten all the Zelda games, I would rank the first one pretty low too. The game stops being fun real fast and soon becomes a lesson in frustration.

Amen. The first one is still my favorite, even though it's probably not regarded as the best one.

My top 10.

7. Legend of Zelda
6. Adventure of Link
5. Majora's Mask

And the best memory will always be the nightmares I got from the beginning of Majora's Mask when I was little.

My favorite list, with short explanations:
1. Twilight Princess, the first Wii game I bought with my own money - and the only one I had for like ten months. I played the balls out of that.
2. Link's Awakening, the second Zelda game I bought. If anyone has a spare DX version cartridge that they wouldn't mind getting rid of, I'd gladly accept it
3. Legend of Zelda, the original. It was nice for passing the time I spent working at my mom's shop. Fun fact: the register was actually a computer running the register software. My mom never caught on to the fact I was, in fact, storing the entire NES romset on that register.
4. A Link to the Past. The first Zelda I have ever played, with a Polish fan translation. I was nine. It changed my life.
5. The Minish Cap, which was the first Zelda I've beaten. It was so glorious when I managed to do that, too.

The Kokiri Shield looks pretty sick, do want! The Hylian Shield on the other hand looks surprisingly shitty, I have seen fan made versions that looked much more authentic.

A flat shield? What is this...the fuckin' Bronze Age? That's pathetic. I don't really like the Kokiri sheild either, since I could probably do an equal or better job.
Also...I prefer these bottles;

I think we should all take a moment to pay tribute to the hero who started it all. The man that made Link what he is today.
Also, step on him and he will fuck. your. shit. up.

SH... It's one of the best games ever, let alone in the series. If you're one for developing relationships with characters in the game, it will occasionally bring tears to your eyes. DROP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND MAKE A LP OF MAJORA'S MASK.

Oracle of Seasons
Minish Cap
Four Swords (any version)
